The calcium sulphate dihydrate particles each have a longest dimension and a lateral dimension, wherein the lateral dimension corresponds to the maximum breadth of the particle about the axis defined by the longest dimension. The calcium sulphate dihydrate particles have a low aspect ratio such that for at least 75% of the calcium sulphate dihydrate particles, the value of the lateral dimension is at least 20% of the value of the longest dimension.

The formulation used to obtain the translucent concrete mixture comprises a type of concrete that is different from those currently available, which combines the advantages of existing concretes with translucency.

摘要： The disclosure provides compositions prepared by combining nanomaterials with a halide-containing polymer, thereby forming a combined polymer matrix having dispersed nanomaterials within the matrix. The nanomaterials may be carbon-based nanotubes, in some applications. A halide-containing monomer is combined with nanotubes, and then polymerized in some compositions. In other applications, a halide-containing polymer is solution processed with nanotubes to form useful compositions in the invention. Also disclosed are probes for near field detection of radiation.

More particularly, permeable cement compositions for forming consolidated permeable cement masses in well bores to prevent sand influx into the well bores with produced fluids are provided. In one embodiment, the permeable cement compositions of the present invention comprise a hydraulic cement, water, and a degradable material capable of undergoing an irreversible degradation downhole selected from the group consisting of a degradable polymer selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides, chitins, chitosans, proteins, aliphatic polyesters, poly(lactides), poly(glycolides), poly(ε-caprolactones), poly(hydroxybutyrates), polyanhydrides, aliphatic polycarbonates, poly(orthoesters), poly(amino acids), poly(ethylene oxides), and polyphosphazenes; and a dehydrated salt.

摘要： Disclosed is an improved granular material used for forming construction materials such as concrete and mortar. The grain material comprises a main material of fly ash or slug powder and reinforcing fibers. The reinforcing fibers are mixed with the main material together with a binder to form a grain body such that the reinforcing fibers project outward from the surface of the grain body. The reinforcing fibers mixed in this fashion permit increasing the bonding strength between the grain and the binder such as cement so as to improve the mechanical strength of the resultant construction material.
