摘要： A fluid loss additive for hydraulic cement, comprising a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a fluid loss ameliorating sulfonic acid-functionalized co-resin, where the polyvinyl alcohol has a characteristic viscosity in the range of about 1 to about 25 cps. The invention includes, in some embodiments, an aqueous concentrate of the PVOH resin and the sulfonic acid-functionalized co-resin, where the total resin content is in the range of about 10% to about 40% and the viscosity is less than 15,000 cps. By way of the invention it is possible to adjust hydraulic cement slurry characteristics in real time upon demand and reduce inventory by providing a concentrated aqueous fluid loss additive.

摘要： Additive combination for improving the processing properties of water-containing mixtures of building materials.The invention relates to an additive combination for water-containing mixtures of building materials, comprisinga) at least 65% by weight, preferably 65 to 98% by weight, of a water-soluble cellulose ether or a derivative thereof,b) from 1 to 15% by weight of polyacrylamide,c) from 1 to 20% by weight of an alkali metal salt or ammonium salt of a crosslinked, ungrafted or starch-grafted polyacrylate,d) from 0 to 20% by weight of a starch ether ande) from 0 to 15% by weight of a water-soluble alkali metal salt, alkaline earth metal salt or ammonium salt of an arylsulfonic acid-formaldehyde condensation product or of a sulfonic acid-modified product of the polycondensation of melamine and formaldehyde,and to building material mixtures which contain these additive combinations.The additive combinations according to the invention are suitable for all water-containing mixtures of building materials, in particular for plasters, mortars, adhesive cements and fillers.

摘要： A moldable refractory composition containing from about 42 to about 83% by weight of a liquid vehicle, such as water; from about 13 to 50% by weight of ceramic fiber; from about 0.5 to 7% by weight of an inorganic binder derived from an inorganic colloidal dispersion having active hydroxyl groups capable of reacting with hydroxyl groups of the ceramic fiber; and from about 0.5 to 5% by weight of a high molecular weight organic resin which serves multiple functions including tackifier of the wet composition, cohesiveness of the wet composition, appropriate rheology of the wet composition to provide shelf life and a wide range of applications and in dry composition to provide green strength. Also described is the method of manufacture for the subject refractory moldable composition. Upon drying, the moldable composition adheres well to surfaces such as those encountered in furnacing applications and construction applications to metals and other ceramic materials and dries to give an essentially crack-free refractory shape which exhibits greater resilience than heretofore known moldable refractory compositions. The dried moldable composition is useful as thermal insulation at temperatures up to 1650.degree. C. (3000.degree. F.) dependent upon the type of ceramic fibers and inorganic binders contained as ingredients in the composition.

Such compositions incorporate certain copolymers and copolymer salts of N,N dimethylacrylamide and 2-acrylamido, 2-methyl propane sulfonic acid having mole ratios of between 1:4 and 4:1 respectively and average molecular weights of between about 75,000 and about 300,000.

摘要： A method and apparatus for reducing the viscosity of a fluidic cementitious mixture, the apparatus including a high voltage source, first and second spaced electrode members electrically connected to the high voltage source and (when energized) define an electrostatic field therebetween. The positioning of particulate cementitious material within the electrostatic field imparts like charges to the cementitious particles. By establishing such an electric field and positioning cementitious particles within the field, the particles may be charged prior to mixing into a hydrated cementitious slurry. Such charging decreases the viscosity and/or enhances the flowability of the hydrated cementitious slurry.

摘要： A mixture composition of a cellulose ether made from raw cotton linters and at least one additive is used in a dry tile cement composition wherein the amount of the cellulose ether in the tile cement composition is significantly reduced. When this tile cement composition is mixed with water and applied to a substrate, the correction time, applicability, and sag resistance of the wet mortar are comparable or improved as compared to when using conventional similar cellulose ethers.
