摘要： A process for treating a substrate made of stone material, preferably in the form of slabs, is provided which process improves the mechanical, thermal and catalytic properties of the substrate. The process includes applying a protective coating to the outer surface of the substrate made of stone material and, to improve adhesion of the protective coating to the outer surface of the substrate, preliminarily subjecting the substrate to one or more pre-treatment steps that eliminate or reduce the presence of pollutants and porosity on the surface of the substrate. The pre-treatment of the substrate made of stone material comprises at least one step of treatment under vacuum conditions inside an autoclave, preferably under pressure conditions lower than 10−2 mbar. Then, after having brought the substrate back to ambient pressure, it is possible to apply and effectively adhere the protective coating to the surface of the stone material.

摘要： Water soluble compositions for use in sealing and/or waterproofing concrete-containing materials and surfaces are disclosed. The compositions include carboxylic acid and polysiloxane constituents. Despite the water soluble properties of the composition, the treatments are effective in delivering an advantageous level of moisture resistance to the treated concrete-containing structure and/or surface. Synergistic properties of the composition deliver reductions in polysiloxane levels without diminution in sealing and/or waterproofing effectiveness.

摘要： A composition of a solution of a metal salt of a dioic acid that provides corrosion resistance and moisture resistance is disclosed for application to post-construction materials. The composition may further include an effective amount of a thinning agent, e.g., isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, xylene or similar composition for application directly to the surface of the post-construction material. The composition is effective for reducing corrosion of post-construction materials, including unreinforced concrete or reinforced concrete, and reduces the permeation of moisture and/or the extension of cracks/fissures within the post-construction material. The composition may be applied to the post-construction material through brush applications, spray applications, mist applications or the like.

摘要： A method for fire retarding porous products used for thermal energy storage and products produced thereby is provided. The method includes treating the surface of the phase change material-containing porous products with a urea fire-retarding agent. Upon exposure to a flame, the urea forms an adduct with the phase change material which will not sustain combustion (is self-extinguishing) in air. No halogens or metal oxides are contained in the fire retardant, so no potentially noxious halide smoke or fumes are emitted if the product is continuously exposed to a flame.

摘要： A system and a method are disclosed for controlling structural deterioration of a vehicle parking structure by arresting deterioration caused by road salt erosion and corrosion of concrete floors and reinforcing steel in that structure. The invention includes spray washing the underside of vehicles prior to entry into the parking structure to remove road salt and thereby reduce road salt corrosive action within the facility. The invention further comprises arresting corrosion due to road salt which already has penetrated the concrete floors within the parking structure by the application of a chemical detergent which neutralizes the road salt that previously has penetrated the concrete. The chemical detergent may include a material having galvanic characteristics, such as metallic particles, which are believed to aid in inhibiting corrosion of the reinforcing steel.
