    • A passive collimating skylight system includes an energy-receiving aperture defining a first plane and an energy-delivering aperture defining a second plane that is spaced apart from and non-parallel to the first plane. An energy-directing passageway extends between the energy-receiving aperture and the energy-delivering aperture to redirect radiant energy incident on the energy-collecting aperture over a range of incidence angles to the energy-delivering aperture so that the redirected radiant energy emerges from the energy-delivering aperture over a range of emergence angles that is smaller than the range of incidence angles. The passageway is defined by a wall having a first end that defines the energy-delivering aperture and a second end that defines the energy-collecting aperture, the wall tapering inwardly and having a reflective inner surface along substantially the entire length from the first end to the second end. At least a portion of the wall of the passageway can be made of a flexible reflective film.

    • A fall protection device for an opening in a roof includes at least one rail section having a vertical member. The vertical member is preferably in the form of a metal tube having an open lower end. A bearing foot has a connecting portion and a bearing portion and is secured to the lower end of the vertical member by the connecting portion so that the bearing portion supports the vertical member above the roof. The connecting portion of the bearing foot preferably extends into the open lower end of the tube and resiliently engages an interior surface of the tube to secure the bearing foot thereto. A hardness of the bearing portion is greater than a hardness of the connecting portion. The connecting portion and the bearing portion are preferably plastic and co-molded so that the bearing foot is of unitary construction.

    • A safety railing system for a roof access hatch includes a three-sided rectangular base configured for resting on a roof adjacent to and surrounding a roof access hatch. Four upright frame members are attached to and extend upwardly from the base to define the four corners of the safety railing system. A plurality of cross-members extend between the upright frame members for rigidly holding the upright frame members relative to one another. An opening or entry is defined between two of the upright frame members at one end of the safety railing system. A gate or removable barrier is provided at the opening or entry to allow selective access through the safety railing system and to the roof access hatch. The safety railing system is secured relative to the roof access hatch to prevent movement of the safety railing system relative to the roof access hatch.
