摘要： A downhole tool includes a sealing element configured to expand radially outwards to form a seal with a surrounding tubular, a cone defining a tapered surface, and a slips assembly comprising a plurality of slips. The slips assembly is receivable at least partially around the cone, such that moving the cone in an axial direction with respect to the slips assembly causes the plurality of slips to separate circumferentially apart. The tool also includes a backup member positionable at least partially around the tapered surface of the cone and positioned adjacent to the slips assembly. The backup member is configured to break as the cone is moved toward the plurality of slips, to prevent the sealing element from extruding between circumferentially-adjacent slips of the plurality of slips.

摘要： An extrusion ring is attached at a mandrel end to a gage ring as well as a softer ring that is disposed between the extrusion ring and the mandrel. The softer ring acts as an extrusion barrier along the mandrel. On setting the softer ring protects a free end of an extrusion ring from contact with the sealing element by extending axially at least as far as the extrusion ring and preferably further. The sealing element being softer than the adjacent softer ring allows the extrusion ring to push the softer ring out past the end of the extrusion ring and allows the softer ring to fill a void space adjacent the free end of the extrusion ring and to the sealing element. Relative motion between the rings at the attachment location is prevented.

摘要： A system and method for establishing hydraulic communication between relief and target wells, wherein a relief well is drilled to include a portion of the target wellbore that is axially offset from and substantially parallel to a portion of the relief wellbore. A perforating system is carried by a tubing string in a cased portion of the relief well. The perforating system includes a latch assembly, a non-rotational packer and perforating gun having charges radially oriented in a limited direction. Tubing string parameters are obtained during the run-in of the perforating system, and thereafter the tubing string parameters are utilized to engage the latch assembly with a latch coupling carried by the casing in the relief wellbore. Axial and rotational forces are applied to the tubing string to engage the latch assembly. Discharge of the perforating gun yields perforations only between the relief well and target well, establishing fluid communication.

摘要： A backup ring assembly has a base ring to support the plastically deformed extrusion barrier when the packer sealing element is set. The base ring has a thin walled tapered extending ring out of the base ring and into the direction of the sealing element. The sealing element fills the annular gap volume between an upper taper on the extending ring and the body of the backup ring such that on setting the pressure internally in the seal material helps to apply a force in a direction toward the mandrel and for the full circumference of the mandrel. This force and the flexibility of the extending ring helps push the extending ring toward the mandrel outer surface to close extrusion gaps between the mandrel and the base ring of the backup ring assembly.

摘要： The present disclosure provides a modular insert float system and method that can be inserted into a casing and attached to the casing internal surface by internal slips and sealing components. The system is modular in that three main components: an upper valve assembly, a lower valve assembly, and a pair of casing anchor and seal assemblies along with top and bottom shoes form a kit that can be used for virtually any casing of a given size regardless of the threads, casing material grades, length of joint, or other variations. Further, the system allows for insertion of the casing into the wellbore without damaging the formation from forcing wellbore fluid into the formation and causing the loss of wellbore fluid in the wellbore.

摘要： A downhole tool held in a wellbore with a unidirectional slip and a bidirectional slip. The bi-directional slip has a slip frame and at least two slip banks. The slip frame comprises a center ring and a plurality of slats extending longitudinally uphole and downhole from the center ring and spaced radially about the center ring so as to define at least two pairs of slots. Each pair of slots has a first slot extending longitudinally uphole from the center ring and a second slot extending longitudinally downhole from the center ring. The slip banks have a first gripping bank, a second gripping bank and a groove between the first gripping bank and second gripping bank. The first gripping bank and second gripping bank each have an outer surface configured to grip the casing. The first gripping bank is slideably received in the first slot and the second gripping bank is slideably received in the second slot such that the slip bank has a set position in which the groove receives a portion of the center ring and the first gripping bank and second gripping bank extend radially outward from the slip frame so as to be able to engage the casing, and the slip bank has an unset position in which the slip bank is positioned radially inward from the set position.
