    • A fluid coupling includes a socket with a socket main body, a fixed valve, a guide which is engaged with the fixed valve and biased to be pressed against an inner surface of the socket main body, and a guide spring which biases the guide, and a plug with a plug main body, a movable valve, a valve spring, and a valve holder which supports the movable valve and the valve spring. When the plug is inserted into the socket, the guide moves rearward against a biasing force of the guide spring to connect a flow path between the plug and the socket. A fitted portion, which is fitted into the distal end of the plug, is disposed at the end portion of the guide. First seal members are disposed between the fitted portion and a distal end of the plug.

    • A quick-connect coupling for pressurized fluid lines includes a male element and a female element whose connecting ends are each closed off by valves. Each valve comprises a sealing member which engages with the sealing member of the other valve during connection. A return spring pushes the sealing member against a seat and an abutment limits the opening stroke of the sealing member. The abutment of the element under pressure is fixed and positioned in such a way that the sealing member engages with the abutment when the male and female elements are connected. The other abutment is mounted in the other element in a sliding manner and includes first and second sliding sleeves. The front end of a second of the sleeves forms a valve sealing member and includes holes located directly behind the sealing member enabling fluid to flow through the body. The rear end of the second sleeve is shaped for engagement with a front end surface of a first of the sleeves. The coupling furthermore includes means for locking and returning the sliding abutment to the forward position, which permits the rearward movement of the sliding abutment during connection of the male and female elements and the locking of the sliding abutment into a forward position once such connection is complete.

    • A detachable valve and slip joint structure is provided to permit removal of a basin pump. The structure includes an elbow joint attachable to the pump and having a lifting eye and a check valve to prevent backflow into the pump. The horizontal outlet from the elbow has a downwardly opening U-shaped flange and a pressure seal to engage a lip on a tubular outlet pipe which contains a 90.degree. plug or ball valve. The stem of the 90.degree. valve is attachable to a handle and carries a locking tab movable between stops. The tab engages the elbow when the 90.degree. valve is in its open position, preventing disengagement of the flange and lip slip joint until the valve is rotated to its closed position.
