    • A multi-view architectural lighting (MVAL) system includes one or more multi-view lighting units (“MV lights”) in which the apparent brightness and color of each MV light is individually and simultaneously controllable for different viewing angles. The MV lights can be pointed in arbitrary directions and installed in arbitrary locations in 3D space with respect to one another, consistent with the structure of a building, etc. This enables a lighting designer to create differentiated lighting experiences for different viewers based on their viewing angle with respect to the MV lights. A calibration system maps viewing locations to emitted light directions for each MV light. Using this information, the appearance of each MV light from a given viewing location relative to that MV light is set by adjusting the light (e.g., typically color and intensity, etc.) emitted in the corresponding direction/directions.

    • A light holding assembly facilitates installation and removal of decorative light strings on a structure. The assembly includes a panel having an upper section and a lower section. The lower section is selectively separable from the upper section. A plurality of apertures extends through the upper section of the panel wherein the upper section of the panel is configured for being coupled to a structure by insertion of connectors through the apertures. A plurality of straps is coupled to the lower section of the panel. The straps are selectively formed into loops wherein the lower section of the panel is configured for supporting a string of lights extending through the loops.

    • An apparatus for installing a string of decorative lighting, such as Christmas or party lights, in an elevated location without requiring the use of a ladder. The apparatus allows the string of lights to be hung simultaneously with a hanging bracket or clip suitable for hanging the lights from a gutter or shingles. A clamp, actuated between an open and closed position, securely holds the light string by a socket rather than the wire string, while the light string is being hung. The clamp preferably includes prongs oriented in different directions, one direction adapted for hanging a string of lights with a hook-type hanging bracket and the other direction adapted for use with a clip-type hanger. A protective body covers the bulb while the light string is being hung.

    • A lighting system can include: a plurality of light modules electrically coupled to a first cable, the first cable having a first electric coupler. Each light module can include: a housing including one or more brackets adapted to attach to an existing structure; and a light emitting diode (LED) light source contained within the housing, the LED light source electrically connected to the first cable. The lighting system can further include: a controller adapted to couple to an AC power receptacle to receive AC power, the controller including an electrical output having a second electric coupler adapted to physically and electrically connect to the first electric coupler. The controller can be adapted to illuminate the LED light sources of the plurality of light modules according to a plurality of pre-set programs, and the controller can include a user-operable selector adapted to select one of the pre-set programs.

    • A clip for holding decorative lights has a clamp portion and a light holding portion connected by a bridge. The light holding portion and the bridge lie in a common plane and are formed as a unitary plastic body. The clamp portion has a leg tapered at one end and a second end which is connected to a bridge portion that holds the bridge and is connected to a clamping arm forming a corner which has an opening. A hook is provided on the end of the arm which defines a space of sufficient size to receive a rope light. The arm and the hook are sized and configured so that the leg and the hook can engage opposite surfaces of the roofing shingle. The light holding portion can be broken away from the clamp portion. Then the two pieces can be connected together in a different configuration.
