    • A glow plug having a main body bracket, a heater, a center shaft, an insulator, an O-ring that is provided between the front end surface of the insulator and the main body bracket, and a pin terminal that is fitted to the rear end portion of the center shaft and used for supplying electricity from the outside. The pin terminal includes a small-diameter portion, a flange, and a large-diameter portion where an engagement portion and a fitting recess are formed. The large-diameter portion includes a crimp formation region, which is formed so as to have the even outer diameter and be capable of being crimped, in a range from the front end thereof to the front end of the engagement portion. A part of the crimping target portion forms a crimping portion that fixes the rear end portion of the center shaft by crimping.

    • A glow plug includes a cylindrical housing having an axial hole which extends in the direction of an axis and provided with, on an outer circumferential surface thereof, a screw portion for being screwed into a mounting hole of an internal combustion engine, and a heater member inserted into the axial hole in a state where at least front end portion thereof projects from a front end of the housing. The housing includes a tool engagement portion which is provided at a rear end side than the screw portion and to which a tool is engaged when the being mounted to the internal combustion engine. An inner circumference of the tool engagement portion has a shape which follows an outer circumferential shape of the tool engagement portion.

    • A glow plug which includes an intermediate shaft (3) inserted into a shaft hole (43) of a metal shell (4) and having a connecting end part (36) of a rear end part (32) protruding from a rear end surface (48). An insulating member (6) is arranged between the intermediate shaft (3) and the shaft hole (43) of the metal shell (4). The insulting member (6) has a tapered part (63) which abuts a tapered part (47) provided in the metal shell (4). The insulating member (6) is pressed into position by a connecting terminal (5) fixed to the connecting end part (36) to assuredly hold the intermediate shaft (3) in a rear end part (45) of the metal shell (4) and to thereby prevent a deflection or bend of the intermediate shaft (3). Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing the glow plug.

    • A sheath heater for a glow plug comprises a sheath tube having a closed front end portion, and an open rear end portion. An insulating powder is charged into a gap between the sheath tube and a heat-generating resistor disposed within the sheath tube. A seal member includes an expanded portion extending radially outwardly from an outer circumference of the seal member, and a non-expanded portion of a smaller outside diameter than the expanded portion and formed on the outer circumference of the seal member at least at a leading end of the seal member. The seal member is fitted into the open rear end portion of the sheath tube such that the leading end enters the sheath tube first. The sheath tube is deformed radially inwardly around the seal member for sealing the heat-generating resistor and the insulating powder contained in the sheath tube.
