    • Assembly of a header tank 1 and flat tubes 3A in a heat exchanger is simplified. A communication portion of the header tank 1 side which communicates with the flat tube 3A is a slit 11 formed over a region (a side surface 1b, or a connection portion between a facing surface 1a and the side surface 1b) that retreats from a center portion side in a width direction of the facing surface 1a, from the facing surface 1a on one end portion side in the width direction. An end portion of the flat tube 3A is able to be inserted from the side surface side of the header tank 1 into the slit 11 of the header tank 1. The flat tube 3A is caused to abut, in the width direction thereof, on a first abutting portion a of an end portion on the facing surface 1a side of the slit 11, and abut, in the longitudinal direction, on a second abutting portion b of an end portion on the side surface 1b side of the slit 11.

    • A solar collector of the direct flow type comprises a solar absorbing tube 3 containing elongate tube 11, and a working fluid. The elongate tube 11 contains a concentrically positioned inner pipe 12 thereby forming two concentric internal flow passage ways 13, 14 for the flow of a fluid to be heated. The elongate tube 11 extends out of one end of the solar absorbing tube 3 and into an end fitting 15 wherein an annular outer passageway 13 of the elongate tube 11 communicates with a cold fluid inlet conduit 16 within the end fitting 15 and the inner passageway 14 of the elongate tube 11 communicates with a hot water outlet conduit 17 within the end fitting 15. A central dividing wall 19 divides the fitting 18 into the cold fluid inlet conduit 16 and the hot fluid outlet conduit 17. The dividing wall 19 is a separate insert component which is mounted in the passageway. Fluid can flow between the tubular passages 18 of adjacent solar tubes 3. The open ends of the passages 18 comprise recesses to provide a circumferential seat 20 for an o-ring 21 or similar sealing means to provide a fluid-tight seal when adjacent end fittings 15 are mounted together.

    • The invention relates to an at least double-flow flat tube heat exchanger of aluminum for motor vehicles with at least one water case with cap and tube bottom connected in communication with one end of the flat tubes, the multi-flow flat tubes engaging in a soldered or brazed connection with their free ends each slit in the tube bottom, the water case being divided into at least one compartment on the inlet and one compartment on the outlet side by at least one partition arranged at the plane of each of the partitions between adjacent flows of the flat tubes, and the partition of the water case each engaging a groove or a slit in the tube bottom thereby intersecting the free ends of the flat tubes. Accordingly to the invention, it is provided that across the edge of the tube bottom openings formed therein are distributed, which are engaged by tongues formed at the free edge of the cap in a soldered or brazed connection.

    • A single inlet/outlet-tank U-shaped tube heat exchanger is disclosed comprising a tank having a header plate and a plurality of U-shaped tubes whose legs extend through and terminate with an open end at one side of the header plate. A first group of the tubes is arranged so that the two open ends of each of these tubes are located in one and the other of two outboard rows extending longitudinally of the header plate. A second and remaining group of the tubes is arranged so that the return bends of these tubes criss-cross those of alternate tubes in the first group and have their open leg ends all located in a third and inboard row extending between the two outboard rows. A partition in the tank cooperates with the header plate to define an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber in the tank open respectively to the open tube ends in one and the other of the two outboard rows and also to alternate ones of the open tube ends in the inboard row whereby each of the tubes is connected to effect two-pass flow between said chambers.
