    • Disclosed herein is a distance measuring apparatus. The distance measuring apparatus includes a light-emitting unit configured to radiate light in a pulse form of a specific width, a light-receiving unit configured to include a plurality of cells for receiving reflected light radiated by the light-emitting unit and reflected by an object, and a processor configured to perform one or more of an operation for calculating a first distance of the object using a first method based on the locations of one or more cells which belong to the plurality of cells and on which the reflected light is focused and an operation for calculating a second distance of the object using a second method based on the time when the reflected light is reached and to correct the first distance calculated using the first method based on the second distance calculated using the second method.

    • Provided is a distance measuring apparatus and a distance measuring method enabling measurement of, based on an image, a relative distance from an object even during nighttime. Included are imaging means for taking an image in a traveling direction of an own-vehicle as a taken image; specifying means for respectively specifying combinations of positions, in the taken image, of direct light which is imaged in the taken image and of a reflected light which is a reflection of the direct light on a travel path surface; and measuring means for measuring a relative distance from an object based on the combinations of the positions of the direct light and the positions of the reflected light, which are specified by the specifying means.

    • A laser straight ruler having a main body and a beam scanner installed on the main body. A laser beam is scanned to form a beam spot on an object. A position sensing device receives a laser beam reflected by the object and senses a position of the beam spot. A signal processing unit drives the beam scanner and processes a signal of the position sensing device. A display displays a change in a distance between the main body and the object and data including a measured distance value from the signal processing unit. An input portion inputs data including adjustment of a scanning width of the beam spot and sets start and end positions of the measured distance. A straight distance of the object is measured or the beam spot having a scanning width corresponding to a measured distance or a predetermined distance is projected to the object.

    • The optical distance detecting or measuring device comprises a light source with an emitting optic for projecting a light beam according to the axis of the emitting optic onto a target to be measured and a first detector defining the receiving axis contained in the same reference plane as the emitting axis. The device comprises at least a second detector that is aligned with the first detector on an axis contained in a plane that is inclined at an angle α with respect to the reference plane, said angle being comprised between 10° and 170°. Alternatively, two emitters may be arranged in an inclined plane and one receiver in the reference plane. This arrangement allows a significant improvement of the performance of such a device.
