    • There are provided a transducer that irradiates an ultrasonic wave, a transmitter that drives the transducer, and a plurality of power sources that supply a plurality of positive voltages and negative voltages to the transmitter. The transmitter includes a plurality of switches (SW1 to SW4) that connect the power sources selectively, and a timing controller that controls a plurality of the switches. A driving pulse is generated through a selection of the switches. A plurality of the positive voltages and a plurality of the negative voltages have absolute values different from each other. With this configuration, it is possible to provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus that allows the amplitude of the driving pulse to be varied in multiple stages, is low in cost, and requires small amounts of both material and control.

    • Method and device for performing ultrasonic imaging on a region of interest are disclosed. The method comprises: emitting a first ultrasonic pulse and receiving a first ultrasonic echo signal; emitting a second ultrasonic pulse and receiving a second ultrasonic echo signal; emitting a third ultrasonic pulse and receiving a third ultrasonic echo signal; extracting echo signal components from the first ultrasonic echo signal, the second ultrasonic echo signal and the third ultrasonic echo signal; and producing an ultrasonic image of the region of interest according to the echo signal component; wherein, amplitude weighting of the third ultrasonic pulse is equal to the sum of amplitude weightings of the first ultrasonic pulse and the second ultrasonic pulse in magnitude. The method processes and modulates the plurality of ultrasonic echo signals, so as to separate nonlinear components and linear components in the ultrasonic echo signals.

    • The composite wave obtained by combining a fundamental wave having the center frequency f1 and a fundamental wave having the center frequency f2 is transmitted at least twice for each scanning line while performing phase modulation, and received an echo signal corresponding to each transmission for each scanning line. An echo signal in which harmonic components are canceled out, is extracted for each scanning line, by performing subtraction processing between echo signals which are obtained in this manner and respectively correspond to at least two transmissions. A signal strength difference (or a signal ratio if logarithmic compression is not performed) at each position on the scanned cross-section is calculated by using the f1 frequency component and f2 frequency component contained in the extracted echo signal. An attenuation image representing the signal strength difference at each position on the scanned cross-section is generated by using the calculated signal strength difference.
