摘要： In one embodiment, a wireless power transfer system comprises a transmitter coil structure comprising a first transmitter coil, and a second transmitter coil coupled to the first transmitter coil in such a way that when a first current flows in the first transmitter coil in a first spatial direction the first current flows in the second transmitter coil in a second spatial direction different from the first spatial direction, a foreign object sensor coil structure comprising a first sensor coil having a central axis in common with the first transmitter coil, and a second sensor coil coupled in series to the first sensor coil, the second sensor coil having a central axis in common with the second transmitter coil, the first sensor coil coupled to the second sensor coil in such a way that when a first voltage induced in the first sensor coil has a first polarity a second voltage induced in the second sensor coil has a second polarity different from the first polarity, a voltage detector coupled to the foreign object sensor coil structure, the voltage detector configured to detect a net voltage across the foreign object sensor coil structure, and a controller configured to receive the net voltage and determine a presence or absence of a foreign object based on a magnitude of the net voltage.

摘要： Methods and apparatus according to the invention include inductive units or apparatus such as magnetic metal detectors comprising multiple electromagnetic coils and circuit boards such as electronic printed circuit boards (PCBs) so that the circuit boards, while containing metallic surfaces and layers, are positioned in such a way as to reduce or eliminate their effect on the metal detector's coils. The apparatus comprising: a plurality of electromagnetic coils and a plurality of circuit boards, and wherein at least one of said circuit boards is positioned so that its thickness direction is orthogonal to the magnetic field of at least one of said coils.

摘要： An under-sink disposal unit includes a motor, a disposal chamber, and a disposal throat. The disposal throat extends from the disposal chamber to an opening in a top of the disposal unit and defines a passageway through which objects pass into the disposal chamber for grinding. The disposal unit further includes a coil assembly including an arrangement of coils. The arrangement of coils is used to detect the passing of a metallic object in the passageway through the disposal throat. Furthermore, the arrangement of coils includes at least one coil having a loop that is oriented with respect to an axis of the passageway through the disposal throat such that objects passing through the disposal throat into the disposal chamber pass by and proximate to, but do not pass through, such loop. Preferably DC injection braking is used to stop the motor upon detection of a metallic object.

The foreign-object detecting circuitry outputs a first detection signal to an outside or inside terminal of the first coil, outputs a second detection signal having an inverted phase to an outside or inside terminal of the second coil, causes one of the first and second detection signal to flow clockwise, causes the other detection signal to flow counterclockwise to generate a combined magnetic field across a center of the first and a center of the second coil, measures an amount of change in an impedance value of the first or second coils, and determines that a foreign object is present within the combined magnetic field, based on the amount of change.

摘要： A sensor for the location of metallic objects and also an associated method comprise a plurality of transmitting coils (2.1, 2.2) and at least one receiving coil (1.9) which are arranged such as to be inductively coupled to one another and overlap to a partial extent for the purposes of decoupling the interaction therebetween, whereby there can be obtained a point of optimal cancellation of the interaction. Due to the fact that a flow of current is passed through the transmitting coils (2.1, 2.2) by a sensor electronic system, equal flows of current through the transmitting coils have an effect upon the at least one receiving coil (1.9) which results in a local point of optimal cancellation which moves in a first direction when there is a flow of current in a first transmitting coil (2.1), whereas it moves in another direction when there is a flow of current in a further transmitting coil (2.2), and due to the fact that there is provided a control circuit for the regulation of the currents in the transmitting coils which leads to a displacement of the local point of optimal cancellation which causes cancellation of the received signal, a simple and effective sensor is thereby produced.
