摘要： A writeable display medium incorporating various sensing elements into the backplane of the writeable display medium so that the sensing elements can cause the associated pixels to update immediately in contrast to state-of-the art writeable displays that rely on a feedback loop between a digitizing layer and a display driver that controls the output of a display. As a stylus is moved over the display, a signal emitted from the stylus (e.g., an electromagnetic field) will change the state of a transistor associated with a pixel, resulting in a nearly instantaneous state change in the display (i.e., white to black).

摘要： An electronic circuit device that includes a plurality of electrical circuits disposed on a support substrate, such as an electronic display device, includes one or more primary electrodes that extend along a trace on the support substrate, wherein the primary electrodes form one or more primary electrical pathways of or to one or more of the electrical circuits. One or more secondary electrodes are disposed along and in electrical contact with the primary electrodes. The secondary electrodes extend along the trace substantially parallel with the primary electrodes and form secondary electrical pathways adjacent the primary electrical pathways. The secondary electrodes are formed of a secondary conductor that is electrically conductive and has a higher strain limit than the primary electrodes. The secondary electrodes are able to handle a higher amount of strain than the primary electrode without breaking the secondary electrical pathway and thereby are arranged to complete the electrical circuits when a gap in a primary electrode interrupts the electrical circuit through the primary electrode.

摘要： A high efficiency, long life, video rate, electrophoretic display comprises fluid containing sub-pixel structures that are periodic, and aligned with a color filter array. A fluid comprising of electrophoretically mobile particles is compartmentalized at the size scale of the individual filters (one per filter) such that the particles may be moved to either allow light to be returned through the same filter back towards the viewer by total internal reflection (TIR) or conventional reflection to create a light state or to be absorbed by the particles to create a dark state. High reflectance is achieved through the use of structures that avoid ITO layers in the light path and reflecting most light, by virtue of a dual control of light by TIR and transmission to a reflector. In one embodiment the structures are in the shape of truncated pyramids.

摘要： A constitution of the display device of the invention is shown in the following. The display device includes a pixel unit including TFTs of which the active layer contains an organic semiconductor material for forming channel portions in the opening portions in an insulating layer arranged to meet the gale electrodes. The pixel unit further includes a contrast media formed on the electrodes connected to the TFTs for changing the reflectivity upon the application of an electric field, or microcapsules containing electrically charged particles that change the reflectivity upon the application of an electric field. The pixel unit is sandwiched by plastic substrates, and barrier layers including an inorganic insulating material are provided between the plastic substrates and the pixel unit. The purpose of the present invention is to supply display devices which are excellent in productivity, light in weight and flexible.
