    • An interface, apparatus, circuit and method for interfacing with an electronic device, such as a cellular telephone, are disclosed. The interface includes a key pad with a number of keys, each operable for providing a unique input to the electronic device, and a actuator for selectively actuating one or more of the keys. A controller, coupled to the key pad, scans the keys according to a mode of operation of the electronic device. A mode selector, operable with the controller, selects a first or second operating mode. In the first, useful for instance in performing telephonic functions, each key provides its unique input discretely. In the second mode, useful for instance for providing a game related function, certain of the keys are selectively chorded to function for providing their respective inputs together, effectively simultaneously, according to a manipulation of the actuator by the user.

    • The specification and drawings present a new method and apparatus for a touch actuation in an electronic device using a general purpose input board. The input board comprises of a grating of conductors running in one direction (y-lines). Between these conductors there are contacts connected to a grating running in the perpendicular direction a layer below (x-lines). The grating layers are separated by an insulating layer. Various known methods can be used to read the position of, e.g., a conductive actuator touching the input board. The input board can be used as a configurable UI board under a keymat. The input devices on the keymat can be a key, a joystick, a touchpad top membrane, etc. Also, the actuators can be made force-sensitive by detecting a contact surface area. In addition, all components of the general purpose input board can be made of materials substantially transparent to light.

    • Game apparatus for use with a hand-holdable video game device of the type having a video display screen, at least one depressible control button, and at least one multi-position operating control operative to "play" the video game. The game apparatus includes a housing adapted for support on a generally horizontal support surface and having a recess to receive the video game in predetermined relation. A magnifying lens overlies and magnifies the display screen on the video game. The game apparatus has depressible control knobs and an upstanding joystick operative to selectively actuate the control buttons and multi-position control on the video game, thereby enabling two-handed play of the video game in a manner simulating play of large-scale video games.

    • A navigation keypad is disposed in an electronic device including a case and a keypad printed circuit board disposed in the case. The navigation keypad includes an elastic support element and a body. The elastic post includes an elastic post, and a first end of the elastic post has an inclined plane. The body is passing through the case and corresponding to the elastic support element. The body includes a direction keypad portion lean against the elastic post and providing a reload force. The direction keypad portions may be formed on the body for direction control. Therefore, the number of the components and the assembling hour of the navigation keypad can be reduced. In addition, the inclined plane allows the direction keypad portion to be closely in contact with the directional elastic post. Therefore, when one direction keypad portion is pressed, other direction keypad portion would not be affected.
