    • An image forming apparatus includes: a scanner that obtains an image file by document scanning; a character recognition processor that obtains a text string from each line of text by performing character recognition; a text string splitter that splits each the text string into a plurality of short text strings in accordance with a predetermined rule; a font size determining portion that determines a uniform font size for each the text string; a position determining portion that determines x-axis positions for the short text strings on the basis of the x-coordinates of the characters at the forefront in the respective short text strings, the short text strings each having its x-axis in the forward and backward reading directions; and an embedding portion that embeds text data of the short text strings in the image file at the respective x-axis positions in the uniform font size for the entire text string.

    • A CPU performs the steps of: (a) causing a compression/decompression processor to decompress the compressed data of one of three bands in the data area except for the first block in the band, and storing decompressed bitmap data in the data area; (b) rasterizing each of the intermediate data blocks in the band and synthesizing the rasterized data and the decompressed bitmap data in the band; and causing the compression/decompression processor to compress the synthesized bitmap data and storing the compressed data in the data area. The CPU performs the steps (a) to (c) in different respective tasks in parallel, and performs the steps (a) to (c) in the order of (a), (b) (c) for each of the intermediate code blocks in each of the bands while using the 1st to the 3rd bitmap data area in turn for each of the steps (a) to (c).

    • A print image processing system includes plural logical page interpretation units, a caching interpretation unit, and a print image data generation unit. The plural logical page interpretation units interpret different logical pages in print data in parallel to obtain interpretation results, and output the interpretation results. The caching interpretation unit interprets an element to be cached which is included in each of logical pages in the print data to obtain interpretation results, and stores the interpretation results in a cache unit. The print image data generation unit generates print image data of the logical pages using the interpretation results of the logical pages output from the logical page interpretation units and the interpretation results of the elements to be cached stored in the cache unit. The print image data generation unit supplies the generated print image data to a printer.
