    • An information processing device that includes processing devices and a relay device. Each processing device has at least one processing function associated with a unique function information item, a function determination portion, and a device information item notification portion. The function determination portion determines whether the processing device includes a processing function that corresponds to a function information item received from the relay device. If the processing device has the processing function, the device information item notification portion transmits a device information item to the relay device. The relay device includes a storage portion that stores the device information items, a function information item transmission portion, and a device information item recording portion.

    • A method and apparatus is provided for constructing and using a smart wallet, i.e. a repository of payment instruments, such as, for example, credit cards, with automatic selection when making a purchase in an online environment. In one embodiment of the invention, the wallet service first finds the intersection of acceptable instruments between a merchant and a user. For example, the invention matches a list of user held credit cards against a list of acceptable credit cards at a merchant. The wallet service then intelligently selects, or at least ranks in order, the payment instruments based on value to the customer. The ranking can take into account: a) cash back rates; b) mileage rates for the specific potential purchase; and c) temporal discounts such as shipping or coupon discounts for the specific product type; etc. The act of automatically making a selection of a payment instrument, such as a credit card, in an online environment is analogous to what a human does when buying things at a store. The advantage is that an automatic system can integrate all the discount notices and coupons that are typically mailed to a cardholder. The system preferably presumes that a smart wallet is given information about a transaction, and has collected information about the payment instruments.

    • A secure data transmission device: employs a proprietary arrangement of individualized encodable micro-machined electromagnets embedded in a compact, plastic (or apt substrate) which insulates each electromagnet from one another. The electromagnets mimic the magnetic strip on a credit card, but have the capability to temporarily capture data, and then transmit said data to be read by a magstripe terminal. The electromagnetic device can receive, and momentarily capture a variety of data, depending on which digital data is chosen by user. It then converts that data it to an analog signal, and then by using such components as microphone amplifier, a digital-to-analog converter, and microprocessor in the mobile device, transmits that data to the secure information device, which can write that data to a magnetic card terminal. The secure transmission device can be rewritten over and over again each time the user has a separate transaction, using different transaction data.
