    • A computer implemented method and apparatus for controlling display of displayed digital content using eye movement. The method comprises mapping eye movements, tracked by a camera of a display device, to an area of interest of displayed content. A window containing a magnified version of display content from within the area of interest is generated. The magnified display content from the area of interest is displayed together with display content from outside the area of interest. A hovering pointer gesture is optionally displayed within the area of interest or a selectable function is performed if display content within the area of interest corresponds to a user interface function or a navigation option. According to some embodiments, the window containing magnified display content is only generated and displayed when the display content within the area of interest does not correspond to a user selectable function.

    • Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are herein provided for optimizing content display on a user interface. A method may include receiving an indication of user input indicating that a first portion of a display of a map is to be one of compressed or expanded. The method may further include causing the one of compression or expansion to the first portion of the display. The method may also include determining, based at least in part on the first portion of the display, at least one second portion of the display. The method may further include causing another one of compression or expansion to the at least one second portion of the display such that the second portion of the display is modified in a different manner than the first portion of the display. Corresponding apparatuses and computer program products are also provided.

    • An electronic method for magnifying and editing an object. The method includes receiving an image area defined as a portion of a workspace or image. The method further includes generating an enlarged image based on the image area selected, and a current zoom level; receiving an instruction for activating an editing mode; activating the editing mode for editing the object through the enlarged image to obtain an edited object and receiving one or more edit instructions for editing the object. In certain embodiments, the method allows a user to view and edit areas of the work space under a simulated magnifying glass.

    • A method of deriving a preview image from CCITT-compressed digital image data that represent an original image is disclosed. The method comprises receiving CCITT-compressed image data that represent an original image having Nr rows and Nc columns. Without decompressing the CCITT-compressed data, a preview image is derived that has Nr/M rows each having Nc/M pixel values. The reducing step includes processing each group of M rows of said original image represented in the CCITT-compressed data. Specifically, the CCITT-compressed data that represent the group of M rows of the original image is read. For each constituent row in the group of M rows, a location in the row is derived for each transition represented in the CCITT-compressed data. For each constituent row in the group of M rows, each transition in the row is mapped to a pixel value in a reduced row having Nc/M pixel values. Therefore, for each group of M rows in the original image, M reduced rows are defined. In each case, the M reduced rows are combined by averaging or the like into a single preview row having Nc/M preview pixel values. The preview image is assembled from Nr/M preview rows.

    • A method for digital image magnification in a graphical user interface is disclosed. In contrast with prior methods which magnify a selected region of an original image without preserving its context, the present method provides a method for magnification that allows simultaneous viewing of the magnified image and its unmagnified context. In a preferred embodiment, the method provides a floating window null122null superimposed on an original image. Displayed within the floating window is a magnified image of a selected region of the original image. The floating window is centrally positioned over the selected region. In one aspect of the invention, the floating window is partially transparent so that portions of the original image within the floating window null124null are displayed in a faint manner in comparison to portions of the original image outside the floating window null126null. As the selected region is moved, typically by a user-controlled pointing device, the floating window null122null also moves.
