    • A security system using a laser range finder that can precisely determine an existence and a location of an intruder, and a method of detecting the intruder using the laser range finder are provided. The security system using a laser range finder, the security system includes: the laser range finder emitting laser beam, receiving the reflected laser beam, measuring a distance between the laser range finder and a target object, and detecting an existence and a location of an intruder; and at least one reflective means reflecting the emitted laser beam toward the laser beam finder, wherein at least one reflective means is spaced by a predetermined distance of the laser range finder and is installed a predetermined distance from the laser range finder.

    • An apparatus for detection of any intruder passing through an electronic wall is disclosed. The electronic wall is formed by a millimeter-wave radar positioned at one end of the wall and a plurality of combinations of plane reflectors and retroreflectors placed along the floor of the wall as well as on structures at both ends. The wall is formed of a plurality of electromagnetic beams with each beam having two segments, one between the radar antenna and a plane reflector and the second segment between the plane reflector and a retroreflector. A sufficient number of beams inhabit the wall volume to make traversing the wall by an intruder without detection essentially impossible, even though the intruder should attempt such detection avoiding methods as crawling under or jumping over the assumed locations of the beams. The primary means of determining that an intruder is traversing the wall is the detection of one or more electromagnetic beams being partially or completely blocked. A secondary means of detection is the radar reflection from the intruder's person that may be used to determine the location of an intruder along the extent of the wall.

    • An infrared light emitter forms a beam of infrared (IR) light directed onto a set of mirrors or reflecting surfaces arranged to form a closed path about a swimming pool and spaced above the pool deck a sufficient amount so as to be intercepted by anyone who might walk through it. After the reflected beam has traversed the closed path about the pool, it then impinges upon a light detector. An electric circuit provides a continuous alarm which can either be sound or visual upon beam interruption and which must be manually reset before it becomes inactive. The monitoring system may be actuated so the operative state by a handheld radio frequency transmitter. Electrical power for the system can be a rechargeable battery which is recharged by a solar array mounted directly onto a part of the system obviating the need for interconnecting cable wiring.

    • A system for protecting an area employing a laser light source. A monochromatic coherent beam of light from the laser light source is directed around the perimeter of the area to be protected in a series of paths. A photo cell is stationed at the end of the path of laser light for deactivating the laser and actuating an alarm signal when the beam of light is broken by an object such as an intruder moving through the beam. The laser is deactivated in order to safeguard the intruder, innocent or otherwise, and a reset device is provided for initiating the operation of the laser.

    • An electro-optical perimeter intrusion alarm system wherein a pulsed beam of collimated optical energy from a transceiver is directed sequentially to a plurality of partially retroreflective stations. Each station may have an additional reflector for directing energy transmitted by that station in a desired direction to enclose a perimeter with a beam or beams of energy. An intruder interrupting the beam blocks the pulsed energy which would otherwise be returned to the transceiver by any retroreflectors further along the perimeter. The area between stations which is crossed by an intruder is determinable from the characteristics of the energy retroreflected by the plurality of partially retroreflective stations.
