    • A radio paging receiver capable of giving an intense impact to a user so as to stimulate the user to exchange a cell and to prevent a negligence of the cell exchange and preventing an inoperative receiving due to a source voltage drop and a cleared state of a backup device for received information. A low voltage detector monitors a source voltage Va of the cell, and, when the source voltage Va falls below a reference voltage, the low voltage detector outputs a low voltage detection signal to a logic. The logic starts a countdown of a predetermined time from the time when the low voltage detection signal is detected. The logic then controls an informing part to inform of an alarm and a display means to display the countdown of the remaining time thereon up to a power off. Further, the logic compulsorily cuts the power when the predetermined time has passed.

    • A driver circuit (100) is utilized to drive a high current load (116) in an electronic device powered by a battery (118) having a terminal voltage which varies in relation to a level of energy being consumed. The driver circuit (100) includes a differential amplifier (110) which is responsive to a predetermined reference voltage and to the terminal voltage for generating a drive control signal which proportionally reduces a current supplied to the high current load (114) when the terminal voltage is substantially equal to and lower than the predetermined reference voltage. A slope control element (112) is coupled to the differential amplifier (110) to control a rate at which the drive control signal reduces proportionally the current supplied to the high current load (116). A load control element (114), coupled to the differential amplifier (100), provides the supply of current to the high current load (116).

    • A system for remote control of electrical load devices, particularly electrical lighting where the commands are broadcast over a radio pager system. A radio pager receiver is located within or nearby the electrical light fixture and is normally in a standby state, receives the commands broadcast. The radio pager receiver is connected to a computer processor and electronic circuitry. The computer processor interprets the commands and instructs the electronic circuitry to perform a desired operation. These operations include but are not limited to turning an electrical light element or group of electrical light elements on or off, dimming the light element or reprogramming the electrical light element to be included in a different control group of lights. Before the operation is accomplished, the computer processor checks for the appropriate security code entry. In addition, there are protection mechanisms built into the computer processor so that if the decoding of the commands indicates that a large block of devices is to be turned on at the same time, the operation will be staggered so as to prevent a huge inrush of current. One preferred embodiment of this device is to be installed in a typical exterior roadway light fixture.

    • A pager (1) includes switches (12,13,14,15) for setting the priority of a message expected to be received at a predetermined time on a substantially continuous carrier signal. A receiver (3) is then activated for a period of time determined by the priority setting prior to the expected time of the message. The length of the period of time is greater for a higher priority setting so that if the carrier signal is not detected, an alert is indicated either visually (9) or audibly (10) giving the user time to place himself into range of the carrier signal. Furthermore, the pager (1) may operate in a reduced power mode prior to the predetermined time.

    • A selective call radio receiving system includes first and second receiving means (10 and 10') each having a memory (20 and 20') therein. Paging messages are received by both the first and second receiving means in accordance with their message receiving capabilities, including factors such as: range, memory size, and position relative to the radio frequency transmitter. The contents of the first and second memories (20, 20') are periodically compared (16 or 16') to determine whether a paging message has been missed. In this way, an individual has the best opportunity to receive each paging message transmitted to him.
