摘要： A current temperature of a data storage device having a heat assisted recording (HAMR) device is measured while in idle. A threshold laser diode power output of the HAMR device is calculated at the current temperature when there is a change between a previous temperature and the current temperature. A new laser diode current that produced the calculated threshold laser diode power output is applied to the HAMR device when there is a change between the currently applied laser diode current and the new laser diode current.

Exceeding the duration results in thermal degradation of the first and second write transducers. A request to write data to a heat-assisted recording medium is received. In response to a time to fulfill the request exceeding the maximum write duration, the data is divided into portions such that a respective writing of each of the portions does not exceed the maximum write duration. Writing successive ones of the portions to the heat-assisted recording medium involves alternating between the first and second write transducers.

The hard disk drive write driver utilizes a timing component to generate a timed pulse of the first duration and utilize the timed pulse to detect patterns in the write current signal shorter than the first duration. The hard disk drive write driver may be further configured to add the second additional overshoot current to the write current signal if the frequency of the write current signal is above a specified threshold.

摘要： In a heat-assisted magnetic recording hard disk drive, a laser module includes a submount-integrated photodetector configured to receive optical energy from a laser by way of a head slider. The submount may be formed of a semiconductor material such as a crystalline silicon material, and the photodetector may be a photodiode that is integrally formed with the submount. A HAMR head slider may comprise a feedback waveguide configured to guide optical energy from the laser through the slider to a feedback photodiode at an interface of the submount and the slider, to detect the optical energy transmitted through the slider to the slider air bearing surface (ABS). A back facet photodiode may also be integrally formed with the submount and configured to receive back facet optical energy to detect the optical energy generated by the laser.

The HAMR head includes an anti-reflecting (AR) coating on a side opposite (e.g., a flex side) of the air bearing surface (ABS). The anti-reflective coating may include one or more anti-reflective layers. The anti-reflective coating reduces the amount of light reflected back towards a light source unit.
