    • The present invention relates to a high-voltage direct current (DC) circuit breaker which interrupts a fault current flowing in a power transmission or power distribution DC line when a fault occurs in the DC line. The high-voltage DC circuit breaker according to the present invention comprises: a main switch, installed in the DC line, for interrupting a current in the DC line by being opened when a fault occurs in one side or the other side of the DC line; a nonlinear resistor, connected in parallel to the main switch, for consuming overvoltage; an LC circuit connected in parallel to the main switch and comprising a capacitor and an inductor that are connected to each other in series to generate LC resonance; a first switching element, connected in parallel to the LC circuit, for switching in such a manner that the polarity of a positive voltage (+VC) or a negative voltage (−VC) charged at the capacitor by the resonance of the LC circuit can be changed and charged; and a second switching element, connected between the LC circuit and the DC line so as to be connected in series to the LC circuit, for switching in such a manner that the current pulse, generated by −VC voltage or +VC voltage charged at the capacitor, can be supplied to the main switch.

    • A circuit fault detector and interrupter which consists of parallel current conduction paths, including a path through a mechanical contactor and a path through a power electronics switch. A fault can be detected by a fault detection circuit within 50 microseconds of the occurrence of the fault, causing the mechanical contactor to be opened and the fault current to be commutated via a laminated, low-inductance bus through the power electronics switch. The power electronics switch is thereafter turned off as soon as possible, interrupting the fault current. The fault current can be interrupted within 200 microseconds of the occurrence of the fault, and the device reduces or eliminates arcing when the mechanical contactor is opened.

    • A switch circuit for controlling the supply of electrical power from an electrical power source to a load includes a power supply switch comprising input, output and control terminals. The circuit further includes an electronic switching device connected to the control terminal of the power supply switch and having an activating input; a momentary switch coupled to the activating input of the electronic switching device; and a charge storage element coupled to the momentary switch. In a first mode, closing the momentary switch in excess of a triggering time charges the charge storage element and triggers the electronic storage device to turn on the circuit to supply power to the load. In a second mode, closing the momentary switch connects the charge storage element to the electronic switching device to turn off the electronic switching device and the power supply switch, thus interrupting the supply of power to the load.

    • A solid state multi-pole switching device has input terminals for a plurality (n) of input control circuits, output terminals for a plurality (m) of output circuits each having an associated solid-state switch unit for switching a respective external circuit load, and a field-programmable unit coupled between the n input control circuits and the m output circuits for selectively establishing an electrical connection of any input control signal to any selected output circuit. The device components are carried on a main circuit board, with the solid state switch units (Triacs) mounted on plug-in boards selectively installed in an array of sockets on the main circuit board. The field-programmable unit may be a simple pin-and-jumper array, or a CPU coupled to an LCD display and settings control device. Timer controls may be programmed through the CPU for automatic on/off switching without the need to manually activate the input control circuits. The device allows a field installer or user to program the desired input/output switching connections onsite, with output circuits being grouped and controlled by input control signals in any desired combination. The device can be used in a wide range of multi-circuit switching control applications such as commercial, industrial or home lighting applications including, but not limited to, stadium lighting, office space lighting, industrial plant lighting, school lighting, home interior or exterior lighting, or store lighting and display.
