摘要： A laser apparatus including plural laser modules, and capable of preventing a defect occurring when a number of the modules to be driven is changed. The apparatus includes plural laser modules, an optical output command section for generating a first optical output command with respect to a combined laser beam from a combiner, and a laser module selection/command section for selecting a laser module to be driven and generating a second optical output command for each laser module. The laser module selection/command section outputs the second optical output command, in a period from when the number is changed to when a predetermined period of time elapses, to at least one of the laser modules that has been laser-oscillating before the number is changed, such that the combined laser beam having an output corresponding to the first optical output command is outputted only by the at least one laser module.

摘要： A lidar system can include a solid-state laser to emit pulses of light. The solid-state laser can include a Q-switched laser having a gain medium and a Q-switch. The lidar system can also include a scanner configured to scan the emitted pulses of light across a field of regard and a receiver configured to detect at least a portion of the scanned pulses of light scattered by a target located a distance from the lidar system. The lidar system can also include a processor configured to determine the distance from the lidar system to the target based at least in part on a round-trip time of flight for an emitted pulse of light to travel from the lidar system to the target and back to the lidar system.

摘要： In a method, a laser pump module is set to a first power mode and pump energy is output at a first power level through the activation of a first subset of laser diodes. Laser light is emitted from a gain medium at the first power level in response to absorption of the pump energy. An operator input corresponding to a power mode setting is received. The laser pump module is switched to a second power mode and pump energy is output at a second power level through the activation of a second subset of the laser diodes. Laser light is emitted from the gain medium at the second power level in response to absorption of the pump energy.

The apparatus can include an optical system for providing interference between two coherent spherical wavefronts impinging on a thin-film photosensitive material formed on a surface of a sample, wherein a plane of the surface normal of the sample is arranged at an angle with respect to a plane defined by center propagation vectors of the two coherent spherical wavefronts; and one or more actuating elements operable to actuate one or more optical elements in the optical system, the sample, or both the one or more optical elements and the sample in one or more degrees of freedom to control a relative magnitude of a longitudinal and a transverse chirp of the interference pattern.

摘要： An apparatus, method and system that uses a Q-switched laser or a Q-seed source for a seed pulse signal having a controlled high-dynamic-range amplitude that avoids and/or compensates for pulse steepening in high-gain optical-fiber and/or optical-rod amplification of optical pulses. Optionally, the optical output is used for LIDAR or illumination purposes (e.g., for image acquisition). In some embodiments, well-controlled pulse shapes are obtained having a wide dynamic range, long duration, and not-too-narrow linewidth. In some embodiments, upon the opening of a Q-switch in an optical cavity having a gain medium, the amplification builds relatively slowly, wherein each round trip through the gain medium increases the amplitude of the optical pulse. Other embodiments use quasi-Q-switch devices or a plurality of amplitude modulators to obtain Q-seed pulses. These configurations provide optical pulses having wide dynamic ranges that ameliorate problems of pulse steepening, non-linear spectral broadening and the like in very-high-power MOPA devices.

摘要： Modular set is formed by optical module interconnected with control module of electronic system. Optical module is formed by at least two pairs of laser diodes connected in series and including Peltier cooler and thermistor, which are connected to inputs of polarizing fiber combiners, and depolarized outputs of these polarizing fiber combiners are connected to inputs of a wavelengths combiner. Module of the electronic system is formed by a control microprocessor interconnected with direct current power supply source, with PID regulators of laser diodes temperature, a display indicating temperature of individual laser diodes and current flowing through them, and a control panel. To the microprocessor of the module of the electronic system is connected a gate array and to this gate array are connected generators of current impulses, which do not overlap in time, and their widths, repetition frequencies and amplitudes are adjustable, while the number of generators of current impulses equals to the number of pairs of laser diodes and their outputs are connected via power stages to pairs of laser diodes connected in series, and where to the power stages is connected an analogue/digital converter, which is connected also to the microprocessor.
