摘要： A system or method for monitoring an electric power lightning arrester including an arrester current sensor providing an arrester current measurement, and an arrester voltage sensor providing an arrester voltage measurement. The system detects a switching signature based on the arrester current measurement or the arrester voltage measurement distinguished from background noise and lightning signatures and computes a measured arrester impedance based on the arrester current and arrester voltage measurements. The system then compares the measured arrester impedance to a nominal or historical arrester impedance, determines that the arrester is faltering based on the comparison of the measured arrester impedance to the nominal or historical arrester impedance, and places an order for replacement of the arrester based on the determination that the arrester is faltering. The system operator then replaces the arrester during a fair-weather, typically off-peak period to avoid failure of the arrester during a lightning strike.

摘要： The present apparatus, system and method solves the problems of the prior art by enabling substantial dissipation of an electrical energy surge coming from communications antenna which has been struck by lightning. The apparatus is for mounting to an exterior of a building at or near communications antenna also located at the exterior of the building. The apparatus is connected with incoming coaxial cables extending from exterior mounted antenna and with outgoing coaxial cables which extend from the apparatus to communications equipment housed within a communications center. The lighting strike surge travels from antenna, along the incoming coaxial cable and is redirected within the apparatus by polyphasers which trip at capacity to redirect the surge to three separate grounding bars and prevent the surge from continuing along outgoing coaxial cables leading to communications equipment thus safely dissipating surge and shielding communications equipment.

摘要： A lightning diverter system is disclosed including an outer rod having a first outer rod segment, a second outer rod segment, and a housing cabinet; and an inner rod having a first inner rod segment and a second inner rod segment. The second inner rod segment is in attachment with the second outer rod segment. The inner rod and the outer rod are concentric and configured to move between a rod extended configuration and a rod retracted configuration. A conductive break is in attachment with the outer rod and the inner rod. The lightning diverter system further includes a sensor configured for monitoring an environmental parameter and sending a first signal to a processor configured for determining if the environmental parameter fails satisfy an environmental parameter threshold and sending a second signal to move the lightning diverter system between the rod retracted configuration and rod extended configuration.

摘要： An improved concertina wire that is portable and lightweight, easy to handle, and protects against wildfires by absorbing heat and dissipating it through the abundant air gaps in the concertina wire. Made of aluminum, this wire is much lighter and a better heat conductor than previous concertina wire made of steel. Made without razors, this wire can be extruded or stamped into a spiral cylinder using standard tool and die methods. Made with lightweight, non-rusting aluminum, and without razors, this wire can be quickly deployed by most everyone without a machine in front of homes, vehicles, grasslands, forests and such. As coiled concertina wire, a person or animal can crawl into the center of the coils so that wildfires will be harmlessly absorbed by the wire and dissipated into the large air gap between the wires. Formed into a dome around a person, the wire forms a smooth Faraday Gage to dissipate lightning strikes. A smaller embodiment can be wrapped in mesh and permanently installed in a building soffit or frieze board to safely vent an attic and prevent flames and embers from entering.
