    • A damper finger segment is radially disposed between a retaining ring and a damper ring arrangement at a rotor end of a generator arrangement, in particular of a high power turbogenerator, having a multitude of plate-like finger elements with a longitudinal extension and arranged parallel to each other. Each neighboring pair of finger elements encloses a gap and all finger elements are joined at one end of each finger element by a band-like strip section having a longitudinal extension being oriented orthogonally to the longitudinal extension of the finger elements. At least one slot is provided in each plate-like finger element and/or in the band-like strip section. The at least one slot has a slot axis oriented parallel to the longitudinal extension of the plate-like finger elements.

    • A permanent magnet generator includes an annular stator with windings on the inner face. A round rotor is rotatably mounted in the stator, and includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced rectangular openings inwardly of the outer peripheral portion of the core. Radial U-shaped grooves are formed between the openings. A magnetic unit, including a rectangular permanent magnet and an abutting magnetic conductive shim, is close-fitted within each opening. The core includes core lamination and separate end laminations of a structure corresponding to the core laminations. The end laminations are rotated about an axis through the core to offset the magnetic unit openings with respect to the magnetic unit opening of the core laminations. The laminations are riveted together, with the offset end lamination retaining the magnetic units within the core. The shims respond to the magnetic flux resulting from rotation of the rotor to generate eddy currents and a resulting magnetic flux which cancels harmonic components from the total magnetic flux through the stator and thereby minimizes zero crossings and distortion of the output voltage and current.

    • The rotor 2 of a rotating field type turbine generator is provided with slots 3 for accommodating the field windings, wedges 4 positioned at the portions of the magnetic poles on the rotor 2 for holding the field windings and wedges 5 positioned between the magnetic poles on the rotor. These wedges 4 and 5 are constituted by metal bars without joints to enhance damper effect thereby. Magnetomotive forces due to higher harmonics, which causes temperature rise of the rotor 2 and torque ripple during starting with thyristors, induces an elliptic rotating magnetic field having the longer diameter on d axis extending in the direction of magnetomotive force induced by the field windings and the shorter diameter on q axis perpendicular to d axis, and thus a larger eddy current is induced flowing along q axis on the rotor 2 than that flowing along d axis. Therefore the thickness d' in radial direction of the wedges 5 positioned between the magnetic poles on the rotor 2 is determined larger than the thickness d in radial direction of the wedges 4 positioned at the portions of the magnetic poles on the rotor 2 to reduce the resistance of the wedges 5 and to easily lead the eddy current flowing in the axial direction of the rotor 2, thereby a good thermal balance over the entire portions on the rotor 2 is achieved.
