摘要： External devices, methods for use therewith, and systems including an external device and an implantable medical device (IMD) are described. A method includes receiving at the external device, using each of first, second, and third subsets of at least three external electrodes, conductive communication pulses transmitted by the IMD, and determining, for each subset of the external electrodes, a respective metric indicative of power and/or quality of the conductive communication pulses received from the IMD using the subset of external electrodes. The method further includes identifying, based on results of the determining, a preferred one of the first, second, and third subsets of the at least three external electrodes, and using the preferred one of the first, second, and third subsets of the at least three external electrodes to receive further conductive communication pulses transmitted by the IMD.

摘要： A hybrid communication device, an operation method thereof, and a communication system including the same are provided. The hybrid communication device includes a contact unit that includes an antenna for receiving a first communication signal and an electrode for receiving a second signal, a switch controller that includes a first switch and a second switch and controls the first switch and the second switch based on a change in capacitance of the electrode, and a signal processing unit that receives at least one of the first communication signal and the second communication signal from the contact unit via the first switch and processes the received signal. The first switch is connected to the contact unit, and the signal processing unit is connected to the first switch.

Additionally, the enabling the electro-quasistatic communication includes transmitting the electro-quasistatic signal from the transmitter logic circuit to a general purpose input output circuit. Furthermore, the enabling the electro-quasistatic communication includes coupling the electro-quasistatic signal on a human body through an electrode, thereby enabling electro-quasistatic communication. The transmitter includes the electrode. Next, the method includes transmitting the electro-quasistatic signal through the human body. Additionally, the method includes coupling the electro-quasistatic signal onto a receiver electrode. The receiver includes the receiver electrode.

摘要： In an example embodiment, an optical communication system includes an implantable optical transmitter and an external optical receiver. The transmitter includes a housing having one or more drivers, plural light emitting sources, and an optical element arranged therein. Each driver converts a digital data signal into modulation signals to drive the sources. Each source generates a light beam in response to a corresponding modulation signal, each light beam contributing to form a single optical signal. The optical element directs the light beams to exit the housing such that a peak position of light intensity of each light beam is separated from a corresponding peak position of light intensity of an adjacent light beam by at least a first distance and less than a second distance. The optical receiver includes at least one photodiode that detects light generated by the sources and generates a reconstructed data signal.
