摘要： A software-defined network (SDN) controller and a multipath routing method thereof are provided. In the method, a maximum bottleneck bandwidth (MBB) and a minimum hop count (MHC) of each of the nodes in the SDN are initiated. Next, a source node is visited, and neighboring nodes thereof are discovered to relax paths between the source node and each neighboring node. Then, a forwarding node having a maximum MBB among other nodes is visited, and its neighboring nodes which are connected therewith and unvisited are discovered to relax the paths between the forwarding node and each neighboring node. Afterwards, the rest of the nodes are consecutively visited until all nodes are visited. Finally, a disjoint path lookup table is established according to relation between the paths recorded for each node, and accordingly k disjoint paths having the maximum bottleneck bandwidth are found for transmitting k sub-flows divided from a data flow.

Each border switching device is also compatible with the protocol for the OSI model layer. The first switching devices effect first multipathing through the network except through the second cluster, and the second switching devices effect second multipathing just through the second cluster of the network. As such, the first switching devices and the second switching devices together effect end-to-end multipathing through both the first cluster and the second cluster of the network.

摘要： Techniques are described for reusing downstream-assigned labels when establishing a new instance of a label switched path (LSP) prior to tearing down an existing instance of the LSP using make-before-break (MBB) procedures for RSVP. The techniques enable a routing engine of any non-ingress router along a path of the new LSP instance to reuse a previously allocated label for the existing LSP instance as the downstream assigned label for the new LSP instance when the paths of the existing LSP instance and the new LSP instance overlap. In this way, the non-ingress router does not need to update a label route in its forwarding plane for the reused label. When the new LSP instance completely overlaps the existing LSP instance, an ingress router of the LSP may avoid updating an ingress route in its forwarding plane for applications that use the LSP.

摘要： In one embodiment, a method includes computing at a controller, a primary path and a backup path for transmittal of multicast data from service nodes in communication with the controller and a multicast source to access nodes in communication with multicast receivers, and transmitting from the controller, information for the primary path and the backup path to the access nodes for use by the access nodes in receiving the multicast data on the primary path and the backup path, and switching transmittal of the multicast data to the multicast receivers from the primary path to the backup path upon identifying a failure in the primary path to provide fast reroute at the access nodes. A multicast control plane runs in the controller without operating in the access nodes. An apparatus is also disclosed herein.

摘要： In one embodiment, a network server layer provides disjoint channels in response to client-layer disjoint path requests. For example, the network layer can be an optical network, and the client layer may be a packet switching layer (e.g., label switching, Internet Protocol). In one embodiment, a server-layer node receives a client-layer disjoint path request to provide a server-layer channel through a server-layer network. The client-layer disjoint path request includes an identifier corresponding to an existing client-layer path that traverses a current channel through the server-layer network that does not include the server-layer node. The server-layer network determines a particular channel through the server-layer network that is disjoint to the current channel based on route information of the current channel, and then signaling is performed within the server-layer network to establish the particular channel.

摘要： A connection-oriented network has a first working path (W1) and a second working path (W2). A node (E) receives signalling to allocate resources for a part of a recovery path (R1) for the first working path (W1). The resources are shared by the recovery path (R1) for the first working path and a recovery path (R2a) for the second working path (W2). The node (E) stores an association between the shared resources and a node (A) on the first working path, identified in the signalling, which should be notified when the shared resources are used by the recovery path (R2a) for the second working path (W2). An RSVP-TE object in the signalling carries an address of the node to be notified. The node (E) sends an RSVP-TE Notify message to a node (A) on the first working path (W1) which indicates that the shared resources are in use.
