摘要： A pesticide and a method of using the pesticide to kill invertebrates, especially insects, arachnids and larvae. The method is to prepare a mixture of a carrier with the pesticide and apply the mixture to the insects, arachnids and larvae and their habitat. The pesticide is a neurotransmitter affector utilizing octopamine receptor sites in the insects, arachnids and larvae. The affector agent is a chemical having a six membered carbon ring having substituted thereon at least one oxygenated functional group. The affector agent is a chemical component of a plant essential oil and is naturally occurring. Deposition of the chemicals of the present invention on a surface provides residual toxicity for up to 30 days. Various carriers for the affector agent are disclosed. The chemicals of the present invention deter feeding of insects, arachnids and larvae and also retard growth of the larvae of the insects and arachnids.

摘要： Microcapsules formed from an aminoplast shell wall and an encapsulated ingredient or ingredients enclosed within the wall in which the wall contains a base-cleavable ester moiety. These capsules have been found to be sensitive to the presence of base such that in the presence of base, the capsule walls are relatively quickly disintegrated or degraded so as to produce a relatively quick release of the encapsulated materials. Microcapsules of this invention are particularly suitable for use in controlling insects having an alkaline gut such as certain lepidoptera in that the capsule shell wall may be designed so as to quickly disintegrate under the alkaline conditions present in the gut of the insect thus providing a microcapsule which is safe to handle but which is selectively effective against certain undesirable insects while not harmful to beneficial insects or insects which do not feed on the capsule materials.

The components are selected to sink or float so that the complexes will permeate and/or remain in any planar or volumetric segment of a water column for a period of time that is sufficient to effectively treat a population of aquatic organisms. Methods for treating a column of water are also disclosed which comprises delivering the compositions to a column of water or to a dry preflood area (pretreatment) that will develop in a column of water or a flood area. The composition and process can also be used to treat terrestrial organisms.
