    • A method for forming a molded grommet using a device which includes a fixed mold and a movable mold, the latter having three positions. The first is a closed position, wherein the two molds are adjacent each other with a middle plate between them. Second, there is an intermediate position in which the middle plate and movable mold are spaced apart from the fixed mold. Third, there is an open position, wherein the movable mold is spaced further from the fixed mold than the middle plate. A core is fixed to the movable mold and, when in the closed position; the two molds, the core, and the edge of the middle plate define the molding space into which moldable resin is introduced, thereby forming the grommet with the edge within the channel. As the core moves from the intermediate position to the open position, the middle plate is retained in the intermediate position; therefore, the core is pulled out of the grommet through the axial hollow therein. In a preferred form of the device, a retaining element on the end of the core pulls the adjacent end of the grommet into the axial hollow. The grommet is then removed from the edge and any unwanted peripheral material is cut off. The core can be pulled out either in the direction of movement of the movable mold or an angle (preferably 90°) thereto.

    • A method and apparatus for a nonsynchronous system for continuously molding articles from a material cured by the control of temperature and pressure. The apparatus includes a multi-section self-clamping mold, a controller system, a material injector, a transfer system, a curing apparatus for curing the articles, and a mold separator-assembler. The method comprises pre-treating and then assembling the mold in a clamped condition. Under the control of the controller system, the mold is then injected with material from the injector, and moved by the transfer system through the curing apparatus to cure the material within the mold. Once cured, the controller system moves the mold to the mold separator-assembler via the transfer system. The mold is then disassembled into sections, the molded article is removed, and the sections are pre-treated and reassembled, for the next injection operation.

    • The recycling of used polyurethane foam is made possible by a process in which the starting material is first dried to a moisture content of 2 to 4% and is then filled into a multi-part mold (16, 17, 18) that defines the molded part (32). The parts of the mold (16, 17, 18) are then, with generation of the necessary compression pressure of below 20 N/mm.sup.2, pressed together and locked. These molds (16, 17, 18) that are subject to the compression pressure are heated in a tunnel furnace (20) so that the molding material reaches a temperature of approximately 130.degree. C. After a predefined holding time, the molds (16, 17, 18) can be opened under pressure and the molded parts (32) can be removed. Molded parts (32) with a thickness of 42 mm and of corresponding size have been produced successfully with this process. Instead of the molds (16, 17, 18), it is also possible that a two-part tool is used. Also possible is the use of turntables (14, 41, 44), whereby the pressing and holding time can be shortened by adding an accelerator. The process, which comprises only one pressing step, enables an approximately continuous operation.
