    • A fill valve assembly for a water tank such as a toilet tank. The fill valve assembly includes a head portion containing a valve mounted on top of a vertical water outlet tube and a float which moves vertically along the outlet tube to control the opening and closing of the valve. The float is vertically adjustable without removal or disassembly of the valve assembly in order to adjust the tank water level to a preselected position. The float includes an inverted cup-shaped structure which moves vertically along the outlet tube in response to any change in the water level. The valve contains a flexible main valve disk held in a closed position against a valve seat by water pressure in a control chamber to prevent the flow of water into the tank, and is moved to an open position upon venting of the control chamber. A pilot valve controls the pressure in the control chamber and, therefore, the movement of the main valve disk. The pilot valve is controlled by a lever mechanically connected to the float so that when the float drops with the falling water level the pilot valve is opened, thereby venting the control chamber and allowing the main valve disk to flex upwardly off of the valve seat to allow water to enter the tank. When the float rises with the rising water level to an upper predetermined position, the pilot valve is closed by the lever and the main valve disk is returned to its closed position against the valve seat to block the flow of water into the tank.

    • A float-operated valve assembly for a water tank includes a valve housing provided inside the water tank and connected to an external water source. The valve housing has an outlet opening formed at an intermediate portion thereof. A ratchet pole extends into the valve housing and has an end portion which is formed with aligned ratchet teeth. The ratchet pole is provided with a stopper that is urged by water from the external water source so as to cut off water flow to the water tank. The float ball of a float ball assembly urges a pivot arm to apply a pushing force on the end portion of the ratchet pole so as to move the stopper and permit water flow to the water tank when water inside the water tank no longer applies a buoyant force on the float ball. A float-controlled pawl engages the ratchet teeth of the ratchet pole when water inside the water tank is below a predetermined level, thereby maintaining the stopper in an open position when the water tank is being refilled. The pawl disengages the ratchet teeth when water inside the water tank is at least equal to the predetermined level, thereby permitting water from the external water source to urge the stopper to cut off the water flow to the water tank when the water tank has been refilled.

    • A float valve mechanism for a cistern or tank comprising a housing (20,22) defining a closed chamber (24) having an inlet port (26) connected to an inlet pipe (16) to the cistern or tank, an outlet port (28) from the chamber having a valve seat (30) surrounding the port. A valve member (34) passes through the opening and has a valve head located within the chamber, the valve head being integrally formed, preferably from a plastic material, with a lever (38) which is pivotal about axis (42) and carries a float (54). The valve head (36) is pivotally movable an integral manner with the lever along a path passing through the outlet port (28) of the chamber. Water pressure within the chamber normally urges the valve to the closed position and the weight of the float when the water has fallen below a given level in the tank overcomes this pressure to allow water to flow from the chamber into the cistern.
