摘要： An upholstered furniture system having removable and interchangeable spring and sleeper units for mounting on a substantially horizontal surface. The system comprises first and second spaced apart substantially vertical arm members, a back member which is removably attached to the arm members and a front member which is in removable contact with the arm members. A seat support member, which may be one of a spring platform and a sleeper mechanism, is removably supported by first and second side support sections affixed to the inner surfaces of the first and second arm members. A cover may be secured to the arm, back and front members by hook and loop fastening strips.

摘要： A folding sofa bed frame having head, intermediate and foot bed sections pivotally connected end-to-end and supported and constrained by a linkage arrangement to move in a predetermined pattern between a folded position and a horizontally extended position. A link supports the head and main intermediate sections at their pivotal connection and an actuating link controls movement of the head section, the head section being braced in a horizontal disposition in the extended position by the superposed abutment of the support link by the actuating link. To facilitate shipping, the head section is partially foldable and pivotable independently of the linkage arrangement and the other bed sections to permit folding thereof between the main intermediate and foot sections during folding movement of the frame from its extended to its folded position. The linkage arrangement includes a rear support link having a fixed pivot at one end and a traveling pivot at the other, a fixed stop being disposed to abut the rear support link during an initial portion of movement of the frame from the folded to the extended position and during the corresponding final portion of movement from the extended to the folded position to fix the traveling pivot and cause the frame to pivot thereabout in a tighter, more compact path during such initial and final movements.

摘要： A water mattress construction which includes an interior perimetrical air chamber comprises three similar web portions of polyvinyl material or the like. The mattress is formed by first securing an air valve through the top sheet near the edge thereof. A first seam, which is spaced inwardly from the perimeter of the sheets, is then made to join the upper and medial web portions. A water valve is then secured through the upper and medial web portions, and is secured within the confines of the first seam. A second, perimetrical seam is then made to join the outer edges of all three web portions. The chamber defined by the upper and medial web portions and the two seams is filled with air, and the chamber defined by the medial and lower web portions is filled with water. Further seams may be made to join the upper and medial web portions forming medial chambers extending longitudinally in the mattress.

摘要： A sofa bed including a seat and back pivotally connected to each other and mounted to a stationary base by means of a five-bar linkage located at opposite sides of the sofa bed. In the "bed position," the five-bar linkage is in an open or expanded state with the seat and back extending in coplanar relationship in horizontal plane parallel to and above the base. In the "sofa position," the five-bar linkage is closed or collapsed and the seat extends in a horizontal plane and the back extends in an upright inclined position. To actuate the sofa bed between said positions, the seat is grasped at a forward edge portion and slightly raised which activates a second linkage, namely a four-bar linkage, which actuates and controls the five-bar linkage while permitting it to either open or close depending upon the position of the sofa bed to be achieved. The four-bar linkage includes a link in the form of a crank pivotally connected at one end to the seat and a second link having one end pivotally connected to the opposite end of the crank and an intermediate portion pivotally connected to an intermediate portion of one of the links of the five-bar linkage which also forms one of the links of the four-bar linkage. Stop means are provided for limiting and defining both positions of the sofa bed.
