The support articles of the present disclosure provide compression and/or stabilization of sore joints of muscles. In some embodiments, the compression and/or enhanced stabilization is provided, at least in part, by one or more straps. In some embodiments, the support articles can easily be applied by a non-trained user and can be worn in many conditions (including, for example, in the shower or during exercise) for up to three days. The support articles have a relatively slim profile and are thus discreet such that they can be worn under clothing without being noticeable.

摘要： Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to variable stiffness devices, including orthoses, that use the principles of granular jamming. In some embodiments, a device may comprise a cell having an air impermeable outer bladder. The outer bladder of the cell can define an internal pocket. A plurality of granular particulates may be disposed within the first cell. The stiffness of the cell can be altered by altering the negative internal pressure of the cell, thereby causing the granular particulates to compact, or jam. In some embodiments, a plurality of cells may be disposed within a device. The location of each of the plurality of cells may correspond to a location of a user's foot. The mechanical characteristics of each cell of the plurality of cells may be independently adjusted by adjusting the negative internal pressure of the cell.

摘要： Provided are methods and systems of reducing, treating, and/or preventing back pain in an individual, such as a pregnant or post-partum individual, that include changing the center of gravity of the individual by the methods set forth herein. According to non-limiting example embodiments, support or brace devices provided herein may be worn by pregnant women at various stages throughout a woman's pregnancy, and/or post-partum and may be adjusted to naturally contour/conform to the woman's anatomy, which changes throughout pregnancy. Further provided are kits that include at least one lumbar support device provided herein, which kits may optionally include instructions for proper application and/or adjustment of the lumbar support device and/or accessories for use with the present methods, systems and/or devices.

The brace device comprises a flexible smart fabric, operable to partially or substantially enclose and/or lie adjacent to one or more portions of the thoracic, lumbar and/or cervical portions of the spine of the wearer. One or more predetermined regions of the smart fabric are in a substantially flexible configuration when the fabric hardening means are not activated, facilitating positioning, fitment and/or adjustment of the device around the wearer. Upon activation of the fabric hardening means, the one or more predetermined regions are operable to cause the one or more predetermined regions to assume a substantially rigid configuration and thereby partially or substantially support and/or immobilize of at least a portion of the spine of the wearer.
