摘要： A band saw including a housing, a motor, a drive pulley configured to receive torque from the motor, and a plurality of driven pulleys rotatably coupled to a plate, in which the plate is coupled to the housing for sliding movement. The band saw further includes a cavity within the housing and located between the drive pulley and the plurality of driven pulleys and an endless saw blade wrapped around the drive pulley and the plurality of driven pulleys. A first of the driven pulleys is rotatable about a first axis oriented perpendicular to the plate. A second of the driven pulleys is rotatable about a second axis that is obliquely oriented relative to the plate to impart a twisting movement to the saw blade about an oblong path defined by the saw blade, prior to the saw blade passing through the cavity.

摘要： A shoe for a band saw, the shoe having a body including a generally C-shaped member defined by a substantially planar portion for engaging a workpiece and a pair of rails extending transversely therefrom and wrapping such that the body includes a generally T-shaped receptacle for slidably receiving a correspondingly-shaped member. The substantially planar portion includes apertures aligned linearly. A biased detent feature has a holding force with a magnitude sufficient to hold the body when the detent feature is seated in one of the apertures. The body is moveable linearly, relative to the detent feature, in the direction of alignment of the apertures between engaged and non-engaged positions. The body is moveable out of the engaged position in the direction by application of a disengaging force in the direction acting to move the body with respect to the detent feature and acting to overcome the holding force in the engaged position.

The shoe is moveable out of the engaged position by application of a force acting to move the shoe with respect to the housing sufficient to overcome cooperation between the first and second detent features in the engaged position.

The debris removal system includes an abrasive member, an automatic actuator, and a sensor operable to selectively generate a signal. The automatic actuator is movable between an actuated position in which the abrasive member moves to the second position and a non-actuated position in which the abrasive member moves to the first position in response to the sensor.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, to make the first cut on a rough log, anchor plates are attached to each end of the log that carry supports for a smooth rigid beam suspended between the supports on which the band saw slide rides to cut a straight flat surface longitudinally along the log.

摘要： There is disclosed a band saw which can be utilized as a stationary or as a portable tool. The saw is principally designed for portable use with its table in a saw-supporting position, resting on the work, although it can also be utilized in combination with a bench support as a stationary band saw with its table in a work-supporting position. The weight and bulk of the saw are minimal, as necessary for its portable uses, by utilization of a universal adjustment mechanism providing fixed adjustability of the tension and tracking of the saw blade. The saw frame and table are preferably of cast metal to permit simple assembly into a rigid, lightweight tool that is free of frequent maintenance and adjustment. The saw is preferably provided in combination with a bench support for mounting the saw on a work table to provide a stationary band saw.
