    • A grinding machine and a method for measuring and producing a target outer contour is disclosed, particularly for a pin-bearing journal of a crankshaft. First, a measurement device acquires measurement values for the dimensions and shape of a workpiece in at least two measurement planes that are spaced apart and extend transversely to a longitudinal extension of a workpiece region. The measurement planes are produced by a relative movement of the workpiece region and the measurement device in a Z axis direction, relative to the movement of a grinding disc in the direction of the Z-axis thereof. These measurement values are transmitted to a CNC system for advancing a grinding disc, such that any deviations from the target contour that may be present are corrected, and the target contour of the workpiece region in question is ground adaptively on the basis of the measurement values.

    • A grinding machine includes a pair of workpiece support devices (12, 13), which clamp and rotate a workpiece (W), on a bed (11). A pair of saddles (14) is provided on the bed (11) in such a way as to be movable along the rotational axis of the workpiece (W). Grindstone heads (16) provided with rotating grindstones (16c) and drive mechanisms (16d) are supported on the saddles (14) in such a way as to be movable in a direction that perpendicularly intersects the movement direction of the saddles (14).     • An apparatus for checking diametral dimensions of crankpins and main journals in the course of grinding is provided. The apparatus includes a head with a Vee-shaped reference device and an axially movable feeler that contacts the surface of the pin to be checked, and an articulated support device, coupled to the grinding wheel slide that carries the head and enables it to keep contact with the surface of the pin during possible orbital rotations. A transducer in the head cooperates with the feeler for detecting its displacements and transmits signals to a processing and display device in turn connected with the computer numerical control of the grinding machine. The processing and display device processes the transducer signals with compensation values or coefficients stored in a memory unit for obtaining measuring signals output by the head that vary in a linear way in a wide range and for compensating errors due to temperature variations.

    • The invention relates to a deep-rolling roller head (1) of a deep-rolling tool for the deep rolling of radii or undercuts (22) on the main and stroke journals of crankshafts (21), with a housing (2) in which one or two deep-rolling rollers are tracked with little clearance and are loosely rotatable in a roller cage (5) at a lateral distance from each other. The roller cage (5) is attached to underside (3) of the housing (2) towards the crankshaft (21) by means of pins (15) which support the roller cage (5) on its face (10) away from the deep-rolling rollers (4) and at the same time track them laterally. The housing (2) is provided with a projection (11, 12) for the support of the roller cage (5) on either end of its underside (3) towards the crankshaft (21). Pins (15) serving as fastening and tracking elements of the roller cage (5) are provided and engage the roller cage (5).
