摘要： The present invention relates to a device for treating substrates which device is modular and versatile in use. The device for treating substrates comprises a feeder and one or more first sub-structure modules which each comprise a pressure cylinder with devices for fixing a lift and a sheet-conveying device and one or more second sub-structure modules which respectively have a transport cylinder with openings formed on the cover surface thereof, and having devices for fixing a lift and a sheet conveying device. All of the first or second sub-structure modules have the same intersection point for connecting the sub-structure modules on one of the inlet and the exit side and they all can be equipped with an attachment module.

摘要： A printing method and apparatus for printing different indicia, such as account numbers, on selected documents without changing plates or stopping the press during a press run. Different indicia are provided at two or more lines on a printing plate, each line being separated from an adjacent line on the plate by a predetermined distance relative to movement of the plate in a press. The plate transfers images to a blanket having a region that does not contact the plate and thus receives no image of the plate area that registers with the noncontacting region of the blanket. The plate and blanket initially are aligned so that the noncontacting region registers with one set of indicia on the plate, so that the blanket receives a partial inked image lacking that indicia. That partial inked image is transferred to sheets passing through the press. A differential drive selectively displaces the angular position of the plate cylinder on the fly relative to the blanket cylinder, so that a different set of indicia becomes aligned with the noncontacting region on the blanket cylinder, whereby the blanket does not receive an inked image of that different set of indicia and following sheets are not printed with that indicia.

A drive gear mechanically connected to the motor and a driven gear mechanically connected to the transfer cylinder mate with each other. The press on a single surface and on both surfaces of the sheet are selectively performed, and a phase between the gears is adjusted by a phase adjusting mechanism. Stoppers are formed with the drive gear and driven gear respectively, for stopping relative rotation between the gears.

摘要： A modular feeder printing system is provided herein. It includes at least one, e.g., four, printing unit(s) and at least one, e.g., six, feeder module(s). An alignment means is incorporated at an end of each of the printing unit(s), such alignment means being adapted to be connected to an associated feeder module, preferably by means of a complementary alignment means which is incorporated at an end of each of the feeder module(s). The complementary alignment means is alignable and engageable with the alignment means. Latch means are cooperatively associated with the alignment means, in order to secure a selected printing unit to a selected feeder module. Finally, coupling means couple and synchronize drive power from the printing unit to the connected feeder module. By this module printing press, there is a substantial reduction in set-up time. This means that multiple printing press units can be configured in a suitable configuration to faciliate quality control of multiple presses by one operator at a central location. The standardization of settings on the feeder modules, when used with procedures for accurately positioning the printing image on the printing plates, further allows for almost instant registration of the image position on the printing sheet.
