Particular embodiments determine data values derived both for an output phase and a retraction phase of the printer's operation. Various embodiments generate a print position compensation based on sensor-based edge position distances determined during each of a media output phase and a media retraction phase. Alternatively or additionally various embodiments generate a print position compensation based on sensor-based media movement phase timestamp differentials determined during each of a media output phase and a media retraction phase.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance part, a head unit, a distance changing part, three blocks and three pins. The distance changing part moves the head unit between a printing position where a printing operation is performed and a retreat position separated away from the conveyance part farther than the printing position. The three blocks are provided in one of the conveyance part and the head unit at intervals in the conveyance direction and a width direction crossing the conveyance direction. The three pins are provided in the other of the conveyance part and the head unit at positions facing the three blocks. Each of the three blocks has a positioning groove having a pair of inclined surfaces. The pins come into two-point contact with the inclined surfaces of the blocks in a state where the head unit is positioned in the printing position.

In order to ensure advantageous method conditions, it is proposed that individual contour portions (4, 5, 6) are assigned reference planes (7) by an evaluation program on the basis of data reproducing the contour (3) of the profiled strip (1) in the printing area, in that the print heads (2) are aligned with respect to these reference planes (7), and in that the nozzles of the aligned print heads (2) are controlled with respect to the ink delivery with a correction value which takes into account the deviation of the respective contour portion (4, 5, 6) from the reference plane (7).
