In some embodiments an elevated profile, similar to that resulting from the incorporated cord or cordlike feature, may be formed during the application of the transfer tape with specialized apparatus.

摘要： A rewinding machine winds web material into a log. The machine has a winding drum that is rotatable about a center axis and about which the web material to be wound is directed. A continuous loop is spaced from the winding drum and with the winding drum defines a nip through which the web material is directed when winding the web material into the log. The continuous loop is configured to move in a direction generally opposite of a direction of the winding drum at the nip. The continuous loop is configured to change speed relative to a speed of the winding drum during winding the web material into the log about a lead edge of the web material. The continuous loop is positionable relative to the winding drum at the nip to accommodate winding the web material into the log about the lead edge of the web material and to sever the web material.

A tail of the paper web formed on the full roll is symmetric and the leader portions on the new roll are also symmetric. Adhesive spray or tape can be applied to the paper web in the area of the leader portions. Air jets can also be used to bias the leader portions towards a surface of the new roll.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of threading a fibrous web (W) onto a circular cylindrical object (3, 19) in a reel-up (2) for a paper-making machine (1). The reel-up (2) comprises an endless flexible belt (6) mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel. A narrow tail (17) is cut from a fibrous web (W) that is to be threaded and the narrow tail (17) is advanced on the outside surface (8) of the endless flexible belt (6). The circular cylindrical object (3, 19) is moved towards the endless flexible belt (6) such that the circular cylindrical object (3, 19) comes into contact with the narrow tail (17) and an adhesive substance is applied to the to the narrow tail (17) such that the narrow tail (17) will adhere to the circular cylindrical object and starts to be wound on the circular cylindrical object (3, 19), whereafter the narrow tail (17) is widened. The invention also relates to a reel-up (2) capable of carrying out the method.
