摘要： A winding module and a winding installation including winding modules for winding metal wire. In such a winding installation or take-up bench a driven capstan is used to pull the metal wire through a processing installation before being led onto a take-up spool. The spool is driven by a cantilever supported shaft. In prior art take-up benches, both the capstan and the spool is reachable by an operator from the same side. This means that the capstan direction—the direction from the driven side of the capstan to the operator side—is equal to the shaft direction—the direction from the drive side of the shaft to the open end of the shaft. In the inventive winding module the capstan direction is opposite to the shaft direction, which provides a completely different operation of the winding module and the winding installation and facilitates the introduction of doffing robots.

摘要： A wire winding machine includes two mandrels for winding wire alternately thereon. A traverse positions wire axially along each mandrel, and moves in an arcuate path to position wire adjacent one or the other mandrel. A single transfer arm transfers wire from a wound to an unwound mandrel by extending a wire guide adjacent the wound mandrel, retracting the wire guide to engage the wire, rotating to position the wire adjacent the wound mandrel, and extending to guide the wire into a clamping and cutting mechanism. The mechanism clamps and cuts the wire in response to the mandrel end cap being placed into position. The wire winding machine includes a portable operator console, and a network interface. A wire tension control unit includes a radiated signal source and detector to detect movement of a moveable pulley assembly relative to a fixed pulley assembly to control the supply of wire.

The first and second transfer arms are controlled such that flexible material is transferred from a completely wound spindle to the other spindle for continuous winding.

Lifting members (9) project at the lower part of at least one of the support members (1) for carrying the pallet (7) at the same time as the cable reel (4) is carried by the spindles (3). The lifting members (9) are resiliently suspended and assume a lower position when they are loaded by a pallet (7) with a reel (4) and assume an upper position when they are loaded with only a pallet (7).
