    • The invention relates to a method for the controlled run-up of a weaving and shedding machine, wherein the weaving and the shedding machine are connected with a controller, wherein the weaving machine is driven by means of a main drive, wherein the shedding machine is driven by means of an electric motor auxiliary drive, wherein the weaving and the shedding machine are connected by means of a common converter intermediate circuit for the energy flow transmission, wherein the shedding machine is started at a time point t0 and is run-up until to a time point t1 to an overspeed that lies above its operating rotational speed, wherein the time point t1 lies before a time point t3, wherein the weaving machine is started at a time point t2 and wherein the start phase of the weaving machine lies in the time interval from the time point t2 to the time point t3, and wherein a power transmission (feedback) by means of the converter intermediate circuit from the shedding machine to the weaving machine is carried out in the stated start phase. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the shedding machine is run-up to a predetermined overspeed between the time points t0 and t1, and that the gradient of the rotational speed progression of the shedding machine is more negative in a later section of the start phase than in an earlier section.

    • Techniques for operating a loom to produce multiple different textiles during a single operation of the loom. Conventionally, a loom produces a single textile during each single operation of the loom. When producing multiple different textiles during a single operation of the loom, a single run of the mill may generate the multiple different textiles for multiple different customers. In some embodiments, during a single operation of a loom, the loom may generate a single piece of loom-finished fabric that includes multiple different textiles for multiple different customers and, following the single run of the mill, the single piece of loom-finished fabric may be cut apart to yield the different textiles, which may be one, two, more than five, more than ten, or any suitable number of different textiles for any suitable number of different customers.

    • The starting time of a weft thread insertion in a jet loom is automatically adapted to a change in the speed of the main loom drive shaft, in order to assure that the leading end of the weft thread always arrives at the same time at a weft stop motion device at an exit end of a weft insertion channel through the loom shed. For this purpose, the starting time of the weft insertion is advanced when the loom drive shaft rpm is increased and delayed when the rpm is decreased. The advance or delay has reference to a weaving cycle that begins with the opening of a shed and ends when the shed is fully closed. The flight time .DELTA.t.sub.F of a weft thread through the shed is constant. The adaptation is performed in response to measuring the rotational drive shaft angle .alpha..sub.AR at which a weft thread arrives at the weft stop motion device and determining the starting time in such a way that the weft arrival time (t.sub.2, t.sub.4, t.sub.6) always takes place at substantially the same rotational drive shaft angle .alpha..sub.AR.
