    • A device for the detachable fixing of a holder for a doctor blade located in a paper production plant, it being possible for the doctor blade, which is assigned to a supporting or guiding roll for the wire, for the felt or for the paper web, to be set in its position with respect to the supporting or guiding roll by way of an actuating device and, furthermore, it being possible for the holder for the doctor blade to be displaced on a support for the holder by way of a guide at least approximately in the axial direction of the supporting or guiding roll and fixed on the support in the operating position. A pressure hose is disposed between the holder for the doctor blade and the support. The pressure hose allows the holder for the doctor blade to be clamped to the support.

    • The present invention relates to a doctor blade comprising: a body having a thickness, a sharp leading side, a trailing side, and working end comprising a bevel surface, wherein the bevel surface is defined by a leading edge and a trailing edge, and wherein the Ra of the bevel surface is from about 1 μ-in to about 7 μ-in.     • A doctoring apparatus for doctoring a roll surface comprises a doctor blade, a blade holder for applying the doctor blade to the roll surface, and a doctor back having a support surface on which the blade holder is adapted to slide. A locking bar is subdivided into multiple mechanically interlocked segments and is mounted by fasteners on the support surface of the doctor back for movement lengthwise in opposite directions between locked and unlocked positions. The locking bar is configured and dimensioned to fit loosely within a groove on the underside of the blade holder. In its unlocked position, the locking bar permits the blade holder to slide on the doctor back support surface into and out of an operative position adjacent to the roll surface. In its locked position, the locking bar releasably secures the blade holder in its operative position.

    • Doctor blades are provided for multiple positions within a paper or board making machine. A single doctor blade of a standard length or a reel of doctor blade material has markings which permit a variety of doctor blade sizes to be readily cut. If a standard length doctor blade is used, the length of the blade is chosen to be at least as long as the longest doctor blade required for a particular papermaking machine. If the material is in a reel, the markings may be at regular numbered intervals. If a pattern of rivets is connected to the blade, and the rivets must have a given relationship with a blade holder, blade length may be marked out in such a way that some blade material is discarded in order to position the rivets when shorter blades are cut from the blade reel.

    • Doctoring apparatus for doctoring a moving work surface is disclosed as including novel extended-life blade structures and combined therewith blade holding apparatus for supporting a blade for engagement with the work surface including means acting on the blade differentially along the length thereof to cause the blade to conform to deviations in the work surface. Blade holding apparatus is disclosed which minimizes the width-wise deflection of a supported blade and thus maximizes its length-wise flexibility. Extended-life blade embodiments are disclosed which include means defining on an end surface of a tip portion of the blade a narrow relatively wear-susceptible land having along one side thereof a leading edge for making initial line contact with a work surface, and a relatively wear-resistant structure adjacent the land on the side thereof opposite the leading edge. Upon contacting a work surface, the land wear relatively rapidly to break in the blade before contact is made between the wearresistant structure and the work surface, the wear-resistant structure wearing thereafter relatively slowly.
