摘要： The compressible sealing element (1) comprises at least one piece made of a resilient foam (17). This foam has an open-cell content of at least 50% and has such a hardness that it requires a force of less than 2000 N to compress the sealing element (1) per meter length thereof to such an extent that the volume of a rectangular cuboid circumscribing the sealing element is reduced by 40%. The sealing element comprises a water-impermeable cover layer (18) which extends at least over its top surface. The sealing element is intended for filling at least partially the gaps between the stock rails (13) and the switch rails (12) in a railway switch to prevent the switch from being blocked in particular by snow. Advantages of the new sealing element is that it can easier be inserted in these gaps and that it has a smaller effect on the force required to close the switch so that it can also be applied closer to the free extremity of the switch rail (12).

A rail flange engagement plate having a base section and a rail flange engagement section is adjustably mounted on the securement clamp above the top plate such that the base section is mounted above the top plate and the rail flange engagement section extends outwardly from the top plate for engagement of a flange of a railroad rail thus securing a switch point roller assist apparatus on the railroad rail.

摘要： A switch cross tie is made in a mold having a base plate formed with a plurality of holes in a predetermined pattern corresponding to a particular type of concrete switch cross tie by first overlying the entire base plate of a mold with a covering sheet provided with markings in a pattern corresponding to that of the holes needed for another particular type of concrete cross ties. This covering sheet overlies and blocks all the holes formed in the base plate and it is fixed in place atop the base plate. Then the operator or a computer-guided drill press cuts through the covering sheet and into the base plate at each of the markings to form thereat a respective new hole. Each such new hole is fitted with an anchor, and the mold is filled with concrete over and around the anchors with the covering sheet blocking all the holes other than the new holes. It is important that the covering sheet be sufficiently strong to inhibit entry of concrete through it into any of the holes other than the new holes. The concrete is allowed to cure or set and then the set concrete and the anchors are removed from the mold as a tie with anchors imbedded in it at locations corresponding to the new holes.
