Flow forming the tubular wall over a flow-forming mandrel, which is inserted into the cavity to enlarge a length of the tubular wall. An interior area of the tubular wall is embossed with a structure either due to the fact that the flow-forming mandrel is a structuring mandrel having a surface structure, or alternatively, because the method includes a further step of reducing an outer diameter of the tubular wall by swaging or drawing and ironing over a structuring mandrel. Furthermore, a hollow valve is produced by this method.

摘要： The present invention provides a hollow engine valve achieving high durability while suppressing an increase in manufacturing cost, and a manufacturing method therefor. A manufacturing method for a hollow engine valve comprises: a step of forming, by forging, a solid round bar as a material of a valve main body into a valve main body intermediate member provided with a semifinished product valve head portion corresponding to a valve head portion and a solid stem portion corresponding to a valve stem portion; a step of performing cutting process with respect to the valve main body intermediate member across the solid stem portion and the semifinished product valve head portion for forming a semifinished product hollow hole with a bottom corresponding to a hollow hole, thereby forming the valve main body intermediate member into a valve main body semifinished product provided with the semifinished product valve head portion and a semifinished product valve stem portion; and a step of performing necking process with respect to the valve main body semifinished product for squeezing the semifinished product valve stem portion step by step, thereby reducing the diameter of the semifinished product valve stem portion and increasing the length of the stem of the semifinished product valve stem portion, to form the valve main body semifinished product into the valve main body.

摘要： A hollow poppet valve (10) having an improved heat transfer capability is provided. The valve has an internal cavity (S), extending from within a valve head (14) into a stem (12) of the valve, is loaded with a coolant (19) together with an inert gas. The coolant in the valve head (14) is stirred by swirl flows of the coolant generated during reciprocal motions of the valve. A multiplicity of swirl-forming protrusions are formed on at least on one of the bottom and the ceiling of the valve head cavity (S1) in such a way that swirl flows (F20, F30) of coolant are generated by the protrusions in the valve head cavity (S1) during reciprocal motions of the valve to thereby stir the coolant in the circumferential direction of the cavity (S1).

摘要： A hollow poppet valve (10) has an internal cavity (S) which comprises a diametrically large valve head cavity (S1) formed in a valve head (14) and a diametrically small stem cavity (S2) formed in a stem (12) in communication with the valve head cavity (S1). The stem cavity has a diametrically larger first portion (S21) near the end of the stem and a diametrically smaller second portion (S22) near the valve head. A step (17) is formed at the boundary of the first and the second portion of the stem cavity (S2). The internal cavity is loaded with a coolant to a level above the step, together with an inert gas. In response to a reciprocal motion of the valve, turbulent flows of coolant (F9) are created in the neighborhood of the step (17), facilitating active stirring of the coolant (19) in the cavity (S).
