    • Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed toward a pressure vacuum relief valve and a seal assembly of the pressure vacuum relief valve. The seal assembly includes a ribbed substrate disposed against a flanged seat of the pressure vacuum relief valve. The ribbed substrate includes ribs extending from a base of the ribbed substrate. The seal assembly also includes a pallet coupled to and disposed below the ribbed substrate. The pallet includes a top ring, a bottom ring, and a flexible diaphragm captured between the top ring and the bottom ring. The flexible diaphragm of the pallet is configured to seal against the ribbed substrate in a sealed position. The pallet and ribbed substrate are configured to move together away from the flanged seat when a pressure on a sealed side of the pressure vacuum relief valve exceeds a maximum pressure threshold. The pallet is also configured to pivot open at an angle relative to the sealed position of the pallet when the pressure on the sealed side of the pressure vacuum relief valve falls below a minimum pressure threshold.

    • A fluid pressure relief system and method for a pressure vessel or tank (10) having a normal vent (16) with a first pilot operated safety valve (18) and an emergency vent (62) having a second pilot operated safety valve (25). A vapor recovery line (20) is connected to relief valve (18) and collected at a vapor storage container (21). A manway (22) on the pressure vessel (10) shown in FIG. 2 defines the emergency vent (62) and a main valve member (66) has a counterweight (74) thereon to urge main valve member (66) to a seated closed position on nozzle (60). The first pilot operated safety valve (18) for the normal vent (16) is shown in FIG. 7 and has a T-shaped body (142) with a main relief valve member (172) at one end of the body (142) mounted for movement in a generally horizontal direction and controlled by a diaphragm (176) at an opposite end of the body (142).

    • A safety-pressure-vacuum relief valve assembly for vehicle fuel tanks and the like which is adapted either to be mounted at an external point on the vehicle and connected to the interior of the tank by a conduit or to be a part of the cap for the conventional tank filler neck. The assembly comprises a fitting having an upwardly facing annular flange area concentric with the axis of the fitting, a circular plate concentrically resting on the flange, an inverted cup providing a peripheral skirt having a concentric and peripherally extending shoulder above the flange, the cup and fitting being secured against axial separation to capture the said plate therebetween, and an annular flexible gasket having an outer peripheral portion gripped between the plate and the shoulder of the cup and an inner peripheral bead engaging the upper surface of the plate normally to close pressure relief openings in the plate. A spring loaded valve plate urges the radially inward portion of the gasket against the upper surface of the plate. The center of the plate is provided with a vacuum valve opening extending therethrough which is normally closed by a vacuum valve member. The fitting is either connected to the interior of the tank by means of a flexible conduit or the fitting is firmly engaged by the skirt of a filler cap outer shell, in which case the fitting provides an opening through which the valve assembly communicates with the interior of the tank.
