    • The invention relates to a cartridge device for lubricating a machine, preferably a clipping machine, having a pneumatic system and a pump unit driven by the pneumatic system, the cartridge device comprising a cartridge container for accommodating a supply of lubricant having a longitudinal axis defining a longitudinal direction, wherein the cartridge container comprises a first end portion and a second end portion located opposite the first end portion in the longitudinal direction, and a first closure element for detachably coupling the first end portion of the cartridge container to a suction side of the pump unit, wherein the first closure element has a delivery opening for supplying lubricant contained within the cartridge container to the suction side of the pump unit. The invention is characterized in that the first closure element is detachably coupleable to the first end portion of the cartridge container, the first end portion of the cartridge container being configured so as to allow a collapsible reservoir containing the supply of lubricant to be inserted into and removed from the cartridge container.

    • A signaling device for signaling heating in a mechanical system susceptible to undergo contact heating during operation. The signaling device includes a body containing a thermally triggered charge generating combustion gas, ignition of the charge able to be triggered under the effect of a predetermined heat contribution, from a heating area of the body toward the charge, or under the action of an ignition command, a reservoir containing a fluid, and delivery means delivering pressurized fluid outside the reservoir through the action, directly or through an intermediate member moving in the reservoir, of the combustion gases. The signaling device also comprises at least one visual signaling element for visually signaling combustion of the charge, the visual signaling element being visible at an outer peripheral area of the signaling device after combustion of the charge. The invention also relates to a mechanical system equipped with at least one such signaling device.

    • The present invention relates to a lubrication device for gas pressure-driven lubrication of a lubrication point. The device comprises a lubricant container provided at a first end with an outlet opening and is covered at a second end by a combination of a collar and an insert received within the collar and wherein the collar and the insert are relatively rotatable. The device further comprises gas generation means housed within one of the collar or the insert. The insert is provided with a groove having a contact surface forming a mechanical interlock with one or more catches of the collar, and the device comprises a release position of the insert relative to the collar, in which a force required to disengage the mechanical interlock is lower than at non-release positions, so that the insert can be removed to gain access to the gas generation means for separate disposal thereof.

    • A lubricating system is affixed to and rotates with a rotary drive shaft, and provides automatic lubrication of the rotating bearings of a universal joint or similar articulated juncture in the shaft while the shaft is rotating. The present system includes a series of conventional automatic lubricators which are affixed to the shaft by a novel bracket. The bracket components provide for installation from the sides of the shaft, in order to avoid any requirement to disconnect the shaft at one end to pass the bracket over the end of the shaft. Each component group securing each side of the bracket portions together is configured to closely balance the weight of one lubricator in a partially depleted state, in order to avoid any undue balance problems on the shaft.

    • A method of lubricating a bearing (58) in a printing unit (14) includes the step of directing a quantity of grease into the bearing (58), and the step of directing pressurized air into contact with the grease. The bearing (58) supports a printing cylinder (16) for rotation in the printing unit (14), and includes a plurality of rolling elements (100) between a pair of opposed bearing race surfaces (94, 88). A predetermined quantity (160) of grease is directed to flow from a hydraulic pump (114) to the space between the bearing race surfaces (94, 88). The pressurized air is directed to flow from a pneumatic pump (132) into contact with the grease to remove a first portion of the predetermined quantity (160) of grease from the space between the bearing race surfaces (94, 88). The pressurized air further spreads a second portion of the predetermined quantity (160) of grease into coatings (190) which extend over the rolling element surfaces (104) and the bearing race surfaces (94, 88).
