摘要： A teaching system includes a CAD/CAM facility that features a CAD-generated crane boom design and a CAM-generated crane boom model based on the crane boom design. A simulator runs a simulation of the crane design using a finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate the stress-strain performance of the crane design as a function of variable input parameters. The crane boom model is tested under various load and operating conditions to measure its behavioral response in terms of stress-strain behavior. A sensor array monitors the stress-strain behavior of the crane model during testing. The testing performance of the CAM-generated crane model is will allow a comparison with the FEA-based simulation results of the CAD/CAM generated crane design.

摘要： A carbonate microfluidic model with controllable nanoscale porosity and methods are described. The method for fabricating a carbonate nanofluidic micromodel with controllable nanoscale porosity for studying fluid behaviors in an underground oil-reservoir environment includes: disposing a plurality of polymer spheres into a transparent flow cell; initiating crystallization of the plurality of polymer spheres to form a template with an opal structure; filling the transparent flow cell with a calcium-based solution and a carbonate-based solution to form nanocrystals in voids of the opal structure; and removing the template formed by crystallization of the plurality of polymer spheres from the transparent flow cell leaving an inverse opal structure with a plurality of nanoscale pores and a carbonate surface. The model includes: a transparent flow cell including a first end defining an inlet and a second end defining an outlet; and an inverse opal structure of carbonate inside the transparent flow cell.

摘要： Disclosed herein is a test apparatus for early landslide detection fully-connected with pore water pressure, surface displacement and shear surface. The test apparatus calculates a factor of safety of a slope based on variation in pore water pressure, surface displacement and shear surface of a soil mass, and predicts a change in factor of safety, thus making early landslide detection possible. In the test apparatus, while a container of a slider is moved with a soil mass loaded into the container, shear surface and surface displacement environment is provided, and the shear strength and the shear stress of the soil mass can be calculated based on the pore water pressure and the weight of the soil mass. Thereby, the factor of safety of the soil mass can be calculated, and early landslide detection can be realized by using variation of the factor of safety of the slope.

摘要： The control and measurement training device includes a beam pivotally mounted upon a support at one end, with an actuator attached to the opposite end of the beam to adjust the slope or tilt of the beam. A ball travels along the beam, and is retained on the beam by opposite raised stops at the ends of the beam and by lateral wires extending the length of the beam. An optical sensor, e.g., a webcam, is used to sense the position and/or a velocity of the ball as it travels along the beam when the beam is tilted. The two end stops of the beam have differently colored tags thereon, with the ball being a third color. A control system and software are provided to adjust the beam to a slope and level the beam to stop motion of the ball and position or center the ball on the beam.

The apparatus comprise a spark generator connected to the disk for generating sparks from the disk toward the table. In accordance with the present invention, the table is preferably made from insulating material. A sheet of conducting and marking material, such as colloidal carbon paper, is placed on the table beneath the disk. A sheet of plain marking paper is then placed on the colloidal carbon paper to visibly record the track of the disk as it moves over the table and as sparks are generated.
