    • The device includes two breaking areas formed at each side of a contact bridge carrying main contacts that can be separated from fixed contacts located in the breaking areas and fixed to main conductors. The main conductors each have shaped extensions in the break areas that are configured to cooperate with shaped extensions associated with arc collection parts positioned nearby. The shaping of the extensions and the spacing therebetween encourage a particular direction of arc migration relative to arcs created when the moveable contacts carried by the contact bridge are separated from the fixed contacts. Further, arc migration control is provided in the form of magnetic fields provided in each breaking area. Each arc collection part is connected through a shunt conductor and a single direction of current flow establishing component to make a direct electrical connection to the main conductor associated with the other area.

    • The power circuit-breaker is provided with at least one arcing chamber which extends along a central axis and has at least one power interruption point with at least one contact which is moved by a drive. A closing resistor is connected in series with the power interruption point, having a resistive contact which is connected in parallel with the closing resistor and which closes after the power interruption point during the connection operation and opens after the power interruption point during the disconnection operation. This power circuit-breaker has a closing resistor and a resistive contact which has a simple and space-saving structure and which accurately timed actuation of the resistive contact is achieved. The resistive contact is mechanically connected to the at least one moving contact rectilinearly along at least one axis. Also, a coupling element is interposed in the rectilinear mechanical connection, and the coupling element is designed in such a way that it effects a time delay both during the connection operation and during the disconnection operation.

    • A circuit breaker having at least one phase or pole including a first movable arm having a first contact and a second movable arm having a second contact. The first arm is driven by a switching gear. The second arm is disposed opposite to the first movable arm such that the second contact contacts the first contact when a normal current flows. The first arm exerts an electromagnetic repulsive force in such a direction that the first and second arms repel each other to open the first second contacts when a current exceeds a predetermined value. The second arm is pivotally supported by a support angle fixed on a housing and is electrically connected via a flexible lead with a terminal also fixed on the housing. The support angle and the terminal are fitted to an insulator such that the support angles, the terminal and insulator are assembled in a unitary construction.

The auxiliary contacts are separable when an electromagnet is energized by a fault current which simultaneously energizes a field magnet to produce a transverse magnetic field across the auxiliary contacts and the arc formed between them when separating. This simultaneous action of electromagnet and field magnet coacting for rapid contact separation and lengthening of the arc upon flow of a fault current serves to increase arc voltage almost instantaneously to that of the source, about which time the fault current is totally shunted into the resistor. The field magnet is rectangular and tubular, with the auxiliary contacts approximately centered within the cavity defined by the tubular magnet walls. It may be formed preferably of two L-shaped magnet portions, one reversely positioned with respect to the other, to form a rectangular tube.
