    • A slip ring assembly is disclosed allowing significant external weight on either the stationary or rotating sides of the slip ring. Additionally, a slip ring assembly is disclosed allowing multiple small, linear, rolling contacts on each conductive ring of each electrical receiver disk of the slip ring (both the stationary and the rotating electrical receiver disks). Disclosed is an embodiment of a separator plate having a spiraling-out-from-the-center series of holes and in those holes of the separator plate are the small linear rolling, contacts. In one embodiment each spiraling series of holes with small the rolling contacts provides one rolling contact on each electrical conductive ring on each receiver disk. These spiral rings enable a slip ring designer to provide multiple rolling contacts on each circular electrical conduction ring by simply increasing the number or spiraled series of holes.

    • A conductive device for a brush motor has an insulation stand, a conductive sheet and a conductive wheel. The insulation stand has an open end, a closed end, a supporting rod and a power cord. The supporting rod is mounted in the insulation stand near the open end. The power cord is mounted in the insulation stand and has an outer end extending out of the closed end of the insulation stand. The conductive sheet is curved, is mounted in the insulation stand at the open end around the supporting rod and has a middle and two ends. The conductive wheel is a hollow wheel, is rotatably connected to the insulation stand and has an elastic layer and a conductive layer. The elastic layer is mounted around the supporting rod. The conductive layer is mounted around the elastic layer and contacts the conductive sheet.

    • A simple planetary or epicyclic gear mechanism consists of a sun gear in the center, an internal or ring gear with a common axis with sun gear, and at least one planet gear. The planet gear is located between the sun gear and ring gear, and meshes with both the sun gear and the ring gear. If the ring gear is stationary, when sun gear rotates, the planet gear not only rotates about its axis, its axis also rotate around the axis of sun gear. In stead of employing the sliding motion between the ring and the brush in electrical slip ring, the current invention makes use of a plurality of conductive gears, particularly a planetary gear mechanism, to transfer electrical power, and/or signal(s) between relatively rotatable objects.

    • A rotary connector employing rolling conductive members. Two or more electrically isolated assemblies comprising pairs of primed wiring boards or flexprint circuits are disposed in a housing. The printed wiring boards have conductors disposed on adjacent surfaces. The conductors are electrically connected using the rolling conductive members. An insulating spacer is disposed between the metallic conductors of each of the printed wiring boards that hold them in place. The assemblies are disposed adjacent each other, and a shaft is secured to selected printed wiring boards. The shaft is rotatably secured to the housing using a rotary bearing, and the other printed wiring boards are secured to the housing. The printed wiring boards have electrical wires soldered thereto that permits the flow of electrical signals through the rotary connector, and which may be routed to electrical connectors or sensors. A retainer secures the assemblies together to maintain pressure between the metallic conductors and the rolling conductive members. Thus, the shaft is secured to one set of printed wiring boards and is rotatable relative to the housing due to the bearing. The other printed wiring boards are fixed relative to the housing. The rotation of the shaft therefore causes rotation of the one set of printed wiring boards relative to the other set of boards, while electrical conduction is maintained between the conductors by means of the plurality of rolling conductive members.

    • A replaceable roller turns on an axle supported at the end of a cantilever arm. The roller is preferably brass or other highly conductive, durable material for making electrical contact with a terminal of an electrical device, e.g. a ceramic capacitor. The arm is made from a highly conductive, resilient material. There are a plurality of such arms with rollers connected in parallel to a holding module, preferably with the rollers aligned. The holding module is secured to a structure, e.g. a component test handler jig, and provides a conductive path between each roller/cantilever arm assembly and the test jig. In operation a stream of components are indexed to the rollers such that their terminals are aligned with the rollers. The rollers intrude slightly into the path of the compnents so that as they are indexed to the rollers, the components deflect the rollers causing them to roll across the components' terminals. The resilience of the cantilever arms presses the rollers against the terminals to make good electrical contact. Preferably the roller/cantilever arm assemblies are easily disconnectable from their holders so they can be quickly replaced when needed, and this patent describes such a preferred connection mechanism.

The brush is an electrically conductive body preferably composed of copper, graphite or a copper/graphits composite material containing a solid-state lubricating material, e.g. MoS.sub.2 or WS.sub.2. The pressing wheel urged towards the conducting wheel is, at least along its peripheral region, composed of an elastomeric material.
