    • In one embodiment the present invention includes a method of generating an oscillating signal at different frequencies. The method comprises configuring a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO). The DCO is configured to generate the oscillating signal at a first frequency, and the DCO is configured to generate the oscillating signal at a second frequency. Additionally, the DCO is configured to transition from the first frequency to the second frequency during a transition time period. During the transition time period, the DCO activates the second frequency and deactivates the first frequency during a plurality of time intervals. The time intervals for activating the second frequency and deactivating the first frequency successively increase from the beginning of the transition time period to the end of the transition time period.

    • A method and system to rout a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) call based on a service class of a subscriber enables efficient utilization of bandwidth by providing service corresponding to the subscriber service class, while enabling use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) which provides security to a VoIP service. The method includes: determining a service class of a subscriber upon packet data being received from the subscriber; determining whether the received current packet is packet data to be routed over an encrypted network or a non-encrypted network, based on the service class of the subscriber; encrypting the received packet data with an encryption processor and then routing the encrypted packet data to a final destination with a router upon a determination that the received packet data is to be routed over the encrypted network; and directly routing the received packet data to the final destination with the router without encrypting the received packet data upon a determination that the received packet data is to be routed over the non-encrypted network without being encrypted.

    • A radar detector is operated to suppress nuisance radar alerts by identifying a first signal in radar band of interest, e.g., having a frequency that is a harmonic of a first nuisance local oscillator frequency leaked from a nearby radar detector and identifying a second signal having a frequency that is a harmonic of a second nuisance local oscillator frequency leaked from the radar detector where the first and second local oscillators are companion signals. A detector is also provided that suppresses nuisance radar alerts by detecting a first signal in a radar band, providing a first alert designating the detection of the first signal, determining that the first signal is a nuisance signal, providing a second alert designating that the first signal is a false alarm, and turning off the second alert after a predetermined period.

    • A tracking generator for an RF measurement instrument having a receiver and a controller includes a vector modulator internal to the tracking generator. The internal vector modulator modulates complex baseband signals based on data from the controller to produce a vector modulation signal. The vector modulation signal is used to modulate a local oscillator frequency from the receiver in an output mixing stage to produce a test signal having an output frequency that matches a measurement frequency to which the receiver is tuned. By controlling the complex baseband data from the controller, an adaptive filter at the output of a DAC that produces an analog signal from the digitally modulated complex baseband data, an internal independent oscillator for the vector modulator, or a large offset phase-locked loop, an offset from the measurement frequency may be generated for the output frequency.
