    • A method of selectively employing acknowledgment in a communication system is presented herein. In one implementation of the method, at least one indication of a communication quality of a link coupling a first communication node and a second communication node is processed. After processing the indication, a message from the first communication node is transmitted over the link to the second communication node. The message includes an acknowledgment request if the processing of the indication signifies that the communication quality of the link is below a predetermined level. Oppositely, the message does not include an acknowledgment request if the processing of the indication signifies that the communication quality of the link at least attains the predetermined level.

    • The present invention relates to a method for transmitting and receiving data in a wireless communication system. The method of transmitting data in a wireless communication system according to an embodiment of the present invention supports time division duplex (TDD), and a base station transmits data to a terminal through a first sub-frame of a first frame and receives a confirmatory response to the data through a second sub-frame of a second frame. The second frame is determined according to hybrid automatic retransmit request (HARQ) processing latency which is the minimal required time from the reception of the data to the transmission of the confirmatory response by the first frame and the terminal. The second sub-frame is determined according to both the first sub-frame and the numbers of the downlink and uplink sub-frames of the first frame, wherein the downlink and uplink sub-frames are respectively used in the HARQ operation.

    • A sender for a communications system transmits data as packets to a receiver. The receiver transmits quality values to the sender representing the reception quality of packets received with errors. The receiver stores information regarding a number of received data packets, and there is a relay transceiver between the sender and the receiver. Both the relay transceiver and the sender can encode data packets into composite packets, and to transmit composite packets to the receiver. The stored information in the receiver comprises the data in correctly received packets and information regarding the reception quality of packets received with errors and the data of those packets, and the stored information is used by the receiver to decode composite packets, thereby extracting the data in the packets of the composite packets.
