摘要： An all-encompassing fully integrated communication Access Node for call stations and other security and communications equipment includes a modular housing within which is mounted wire and wireless communication systems and power systems. The housing has a chassis for mounting the electronics and battery modules and a backbox and panel for staged installations, managing cables and providing heat dissipation. A door to the chassis is secured using latch hooks with roller bearings. Optical cable termination is provided as a two sided patch panel. Dual power supplies provide power to internal components and to external components via a distribution module. Backup power is provided by a custom battery backup with a charging controller. Cooling is controlled by dual fans and a fan controller moving air through the housing using openings and baffles. Freestanding pedestal mounting of the Access Node and various other mounts for column, wall, or ceiling to any substrate or condition is an option. Venting through a plug prevents pressure build up.

A second level converter performs level conversion for a third digital signal into a fourth digital signal. One embodiment comprises communicatively coupling a data-bearing signal during a first time period and communicatively coupling a non-data-bearing signal during a second time period. The data-bearing signal has a first PSD. The non-data-bearing signal has a second PSD substantially the same as the first over a range of frequencies. The non-data-bearing signal has characteristics facilitating echo cancellation. Another embodiment comprises a line interface and a transmitter coupled to the line interface, comprising a data encoder and a periodic signal generator. The encoder is configured to produce a data-bearing signal with a first PSD. The periodic signal generator is configured to produce a non-data-bearing signal with a second PSD. The second PSD is substantially the same as the first PSD over a first range of frequencies. The non-data-bearing signal has characteristics facilitating echo cancellation.

摘要： An arrangement for protecting an electrical circuit such as a telephone circuit from a voltage transient comprises a voltage clamp or foldback device (3) arranged to be connected between a current-carrying line (1) and ground (1'), a capacitor (2) in series with it, and an inductance (4) series connected in the line. During normal operation the arrangement acts as an LC filter whose high frequency break-point is determined by the capacitance of the voltage clamp or foldback device (3) and the value of the inductance (4) which are chosen to give a break point of 1 kHz to 10 MHz. However, when the arrangement is subjected to a voltage transient, the voltage clamp or foldback device (3) fires causing the break-point to fall to a value determined by the values of the capacitor (2) and inductance (4). The arrangement may be used, for example, to protect the circuit against a rapid voltage drop caused by the firing of another circuit protection device such as a gas discharge tube 5.
