摘要： The invention relates to a method and apparatus for image compression, particularly to an improved block-coding apparatus and method for image compression. Image compression systems such as JPEG and JPEG2000 are known and popular standards for image compression. Many of the advantageous features of JPEG2000 derive from the use of the EBCOT algorithm (Embedded Block-Coding with Optimized Truncation). One drawback of the JPEG2000 standards is computational complexity. This application discloses a relatively fast block-coding algorithm, particularly as compared with the standard JPEG2000 EBCOT algorithm. Computational complexity is reduced.

摘要： A lossy method of compressing data, such as image data, which uses wrap-around wavelet compression is described. Each data value is divided into two parts and the first parts, which comprise the most significant bits from the data values, are compressed using wrap-around wavelet compression. Depending upon the target compression ratio and the compression ratio achieved by compressing just the first parts, none, one or more bits from the second parts, or from a data value derived from the second parts, may be appended to the compressed first parts. The method described may be lossy or may be lossless. A corresponding decompression method is also described.

摘要： A method includes receiving an input video stream and scaling the input video stream into two or more spatial layers. For each spatial layer, the method also includes generating a temporal layer prediction pattern by: obtaining a temporal base layer for a corresponding spatial layer; identifying, based on the temporal base layer, a plurality of temporal layers and a plurality of temporal time slots during a temporal period; and aligning the temporal base layer for the corresponding spatial layer with one of the temporal time slots during the temporal period. Each temporal time slot is associated with one of the temporal base layer or one of the plurality of temporal layers for the corresponding spatial layer. The temporal base layer for each corresponding spatial layer is aligned with a different temporal time slot than each other temporal base layer for each other corresponding spatial layer.

摘要： An information processing apparatus includes a central processing unit (CPU) and a graphics processing unit (GPU). The GPU obtains multiple blocks having a predetermined number of pixels. For each of the blocks, the GPU generates an intermediate block for which a spatial redundancy is removed. The GPU further outputs a portion of data of the intermediate block and specifying information corresponding thereto. The CPU reads the specifying information, and executes compression processing based on the specifying information. The CPU further reads the portion of the data corresponding to the specifying information.
